Alexander Mining PLC15 September 2006 Alexander Mining plc 15 September 2006 Leon Project Update • Leon feasibility study progressing well. • Pilot SX/EW (solvent extraction/electro-winning) processing plant on site. • Additional phase of resource drilling in Leon valley and newly discovered talus zone underway. • Leon regional exploration programme continues to generate new interesting outcrops and targets, with drilling on two of the already identified targets imminent. Alexander Mining plc ("Alexander", "the Company"), the AIM-listed copper, goldand silver mining company with projects in Argentina and Peru, is pleased torelease this Leon Project Update. Leon Project Good progress continues to be made with advancing Leon towards completion of thefeasibility study and a decision to proceed with mine construction. The pilot SX/EW processing plant brought in from Chile is on site ready to treatthe bulk sample from El Cobre which has been stacked on the leach pad. El Cobreis the zone targeted for initial mining. A 50m deep process water and groundwater monitoring well has been drilled. Keyprofessional appointments continue, with the hiring of a project manager, ametallurgist and an environmental/community relations officer. This willcomprise some 15 diamond drill holes, which are currently in progress. Inaddition, sampling and trenching is underway on recently identified copper/silver talus material identified at the base of the Leon valley and near to theproposed mine leach pad location. Leon Regional Exploration Programme The regional reconnaissance work programme for Alexander's 100,000 hectaresclaim area is ongoing to build upon the reported identification of ninemineralised targets. Follow-up and further investigation is progressing well,with initial drilling planned to start at the end of September and designed toevaluate the El Salto (S block) and the El Vampiro areas.
