Nanoparticle development drives VISARC™ technology offering with industry-leading performance anti-reflective coatings for use on LCD / LED display screens and other high-volume markets
Oxford Advanced Surfaces Group Plc (AIM: OXA), the AIM-listed advanced materials licensing company has delivered VISARCTM coated samples to a number of potential original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and end customers showing optical performance of 0.3% reflection. The company has also delivered samples of the base nanoparticle to market leading formulators for testing their integration into proprietary binder systems that would form the basis of commercial anti reflective coatings (ARCs).
The measured performance exceeds the current industry target of 0.5% reflectance and the 1.0% reflectance seen on current commercial products when applied on a Tri acetyl cellulose (TAC) surface.
Sales and Marketing Director, Mike Edwards said,
"Our VISARC™ technology is unique in that it can be adapted to multiple surfaces such as glass, polycarbonate and other plastics and is showing industry-beating performance in the displays area. This technology can also be used in other markets such as solar panels, ophthalmic and other niche applications.
The anti-reflective coating market is forecasted to be in the order of $2B by 2015 and the explosive growth of tablet PCs, large screen TV and large-screen mobile phones has fuelled the demand for high-performance ARC's.
Our decision to develop our own particle has been instrumental in speeding up the sampling process. As a result we are currently engaged in a number of specific, detailed process discussions following the evaluation of our base coating and nanoparticle sample submissions."
