DDD announces new software solutions for emerging 3D sensor market
Los Angeles, California: DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD; OTCQX: DDDGY), the advanced imaging and 3D solutions company, has launched a new range of software solutions aimed at the emerging market for 3D sensors.
TriDef® SmartCam enables real time 'green screen' user tracking and background substitution using the conventional webcam found in virtually every notebook PC.
With the ability to remove the user from their immediate environment, the user's image can be overlaid into popular applications including video conferencing and business presentations creating fun and immersive video conferences and more engaging, personalized presentations.
TriDef MotionView brings the latest dynamic perspective capability to many popular Android smartphones and tablets. Using feedback from the existing sensors in the device, TriDef MotionView enables the user's perspective of a game or photo to shift as they tilt their Android phone or tablet, yielding more immersive gaming and interactive photography experiences.
The market for 3D sensors is forecast to grow to over 1.8 billion units annually by 2018 according to research data published in January 2014 by market research firm DisplaySearch.
DDD recently commenced marketing these new capabilities to existing and new licensees and has received a positive response with the first beta tests having commenced in November with tier one PC and mobile OEMs. The company expects to introduce the TriDef MotionView capability as part of its TriDef Games application for Android devices in early Q1 2015, where it will be available for download from the Google Play store.
The company also announced that it has formed a new wholly-owned US subsidiary, GenMe Inc., which will be responsible for marketing and commercializing these new solutions with licensees and end users.
