Directors' share transactions

Following the clarification issued on 9 January 2009 by the Financial Services Authority in relation to the disclosure obligations under the Disclosure and Transparency Rules ("DTRs") of persons discharging managerial responsibilities who grant security over their companies' shares, Carpetright plc (the "Company") reports that it has received notice from Lord Harris, Chairman and Chief Executive, that security has been granted over 100,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") held by him personally.

The Company has also received notice from Lord Harris and from Mr M Harris, Group Commercial Director, that security has been granted over 9,613,970 Ordinary Shares held by Harris Ventures Limited and 3,000,000 Ordinary Shares held by HVL Properties Limited. Both Lord Harris and Mr M Harris are shareholders in, and directors of, Harris Ventures Limited. HVL Properties Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harris Ventures Limited. 

No other director of the Company or person discharging managerial responsibility has granted security over any of their holdings of ordinary shares in the Company.
