Costain Joint Venture Wins A303 Delivery Assurance Partnership

Costain announces that National Highways has appointed a Costain and Mott MacDonald joint venture as Delivery Assurance Partner for the A303 Stonehenge Improvements Scheme. In this consultancy role, Costain and its partner will manage the design and construction by the main contractor of a new dual carriageway and tunnel, replacing the existing single carriage road. 

The joint venture, as part of the National Highways integrated project team, will collaborate with the customer, main contractor, supply chain, road users and the local community to ensure the effective design and delivery of the A303 improvement works.

This is the second award for our Costain Mott MacDonald partnership and demonstrates the delivery of our strategy in meeting the wider needs of our customers."

Derek Parody, National Highways' Project Director for the A303 Stonehenge scheme, said: "We're pleased we have completed the procurement process, and once the redetermination process is finalised, and should the Development Consent Order be granted, having this expertise in place will put us in the strongest possible position to deliver this transformational scheme and deliver the benefits we know it can."

Once complete, the scheme will significantly improve the lives of people living in and travelling through the area, enhance the Stonehenge World Heritage site and the setting of the stones, while bringing economic and environmental benefits by reducing congestion and increasing biodiversity.
