AGM Statement
Trading in line with expectations on a constant currency basis
Senior Independent Director appointed
Communisis plc (LSE: CMS) will hold its Annual General Meeting today at 12 noon. At this meeting, Peter Hickson, Chairman will read the following statement:
"The Group has made an encouraging start to the year, with trading in the first quarter in line with the Board's expectations on a constant currency basis.
There has been progress in all three segments. This included the successful completion of the initial transition phase of the new AXA contract which went live, as planned, on 27 April 2015 and the scaling up of brand deployment activity through the Group's main European hubs as new clients were added in the drinks, food, pharmaceutical and technology sectors.
The euro, in which approximately half of the Deploy segment's contribution is denominated, has weakened by about 10% on average against sterling since the Group's budgets were set, impacting the segment's results upon translation into sterling.
Beneficial market developments have seen clients become increasingly interested in digital media, a significant and growing opportunity for Communisis.
The Group is also announcing that Non-Executive Director Peter Harris has today been appointed as Senior Independent Director in addition to his role as Audit Committee Chairman. Peter is an Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Next Fifteen Communications Group plc."
