Trading Update, Proposed Change of Name and Notice of Results

Elektron Plc (AIM:EKT), the AIM quoted technology company based in Cambridge, announces a trading update as it approaches the end of its first half.

Sales and pre-tax profits for the half year to 31 July 2011 are in line with expectations. The Group's tax rate is likely to be higher than in the year to 31 January 2011. In the prior year the Group benefited from available tax losses carried forward. Given the strong trading to date and with sales visibility of approximately eight weeks, at this stage the Group remains on track to meet market expectations for the full year.

At its AGM today, the Board will propose to shareholders that the company name is changed to Elektron Technology Plc to reflect the priority of the Group.

Elektron expects to release its interim results on 15 September 2011.
