Northern Petroleum Plc ("the Company") Additional Listing & Total Voting Rights

The Company announces that pursuant to the authority granted on 27 June 2007 it has issued 1,000 ordinary shares of 5 pence to a member of staff who has taken part of their salary entitlement in stock. The shares have been issued at a price of 180 pence per share being the closing mid market price at the close of business on 30 July 2007. Each new ordinary share will rank pari passu with existing ordinary shares. Application has been made for the shares to be admitted to trading on AIM and dealings are expected to commence on 6 August 2007. Following admission, the total number of ordinary shares in issue will be 70,493,851.

As a consequence of the additional listing, and in conformity with the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules, Northern would like to notify the market of the following:

As of 31 July 2007 the Company's issued share capital consists of 70,493,851 ordinary shares of 5 pence each with voting rights. Northern does not hold shares in Treasury. Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Northern is 70,493,851.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the ordinary shares of Northern under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
