Directors/Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibility and Connected Persons

British Polythene Industries PLC ("the Company") announces that the following awards of rights to acquire Mandatorily Acquired Shares (as defined in the Rules of the BPI Share Matching Plan ("SMP")) have been made today by the Company's Remuneration Committee under the SMP. The awards were made at £6.9483 per share.

Matching awards were made of the right to acquire up to 3 times the number of these Mandatorily Acquired Shares subject to performance conditions measured over a 3 year performance period. Vesting for both the Mandatorily Acquired Shares and any related Matching Shares (as defined in the SMP Rules) will normally not occur until the preliminary results announcement for the year after the final year of the performance period.

In addition, the persons named below have acquired beneficial ownership of Voluntarily Acquired Shares (as defined in the SMP Rules) at a price of £7.1069 per share, following voluntary investment by them under the SMP of more of their annual bonus than the mandatory 25%. Vesting of Matching Shares with respect to these Voluntarily Acquired Shares is subject to performance conditions, measured over a 3 year performance period, and to the Voluntarily Acquired Shares having been held until such vesting by the Trustees of the BPI Employee Share Ownership Trust as nominee for the employee.

Following the acquisition of these Voluntarily Acquired Shares, the total holdings of these PDMRs, including their connected persons, of the Company's shares are as follows:
