NEWΒ CONTRACTΒ SUCCESSΒ FOR AVONΒ
Avon hasΒ receivedΒ aΒ new 5 yearΒ contract award fromΒ theΒ US Department of Defense (DoD)Β for the M53Β Protective Mask. The M53 system is a new derivative ofΒ the M50 respiratorΒ andΒ providesΒ capability for use with all recognised forms of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). The initial order under thisΒ contractΒ is for $3.7m with anΒ overall potential of $43.4m.Β
The M53 systems are to be delivered to the United States Department of Defense, the United States Coast Guard and the United States National Guard, opening a new customer base for Avon.
AvonΒ alsoΒ announcesΒ theΒ completion of the saleΒ and leaseback of their Avon Dairy Solutions facility in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, USAΒ to Robin Associates LLC.Β TheΒ transaction has aΒ sale value of $5.2mΒ (Β£3.1m)Β andΒ will generate $4.0mΒ (Β£2.4m)Β ofΒ netΒ cash after fees, taxation and other associated costs. These proceedsΒ will be used to pay down debt. The book value of the asset was Β£0.8m resulting in a profitΒ (before taxation)Β on disposal of Β£2.1m which will be treated as an exceptionalΒ operatingΒ item in 2009.
