AGM Statement

Speaking today at the Annual General Meeting of Augean, one of the UK's leading specialist waste management businesses, the Chairman, Jim Meredith, will provide the following update to shareholders:

"In the first five months of 2014 the Group has continued to build on the progress made last year. The Group is now operating through the five businesses described in the Annual Report & Accounts for 2013.

The Group is trading in line with its plan for the year despite a slow start in our North Sea operations, impacted by adverse weather conditions reducing offshore drilling activity. The Board's profit expectations for the 2014 results remain unchanged, with an uplift in radioactive waste volumes compensating for the temporary fall in North Sea revenues. For both these businesses revenues are now returning to original expectations during quarter two.

We announced on 19th May the purchase of the site at our East Kent facility, including the high temperature incinerator. The opportunity to own a unique asset of this type and develop new revenue streams led the Board to conclude that taking ownership of East Kent was in the best long term interests of the Group, supporting delivery of our strategy. The purchase was funded from existing debt facilities, partially offset by the receipt of proceeds from asset sales earlier in the year.

We also announced during May the appointment of a new Group Finance Director and I look forward to welcoming Richard Laker to the Board in September. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Richard Allen for his efforts as Finance Director over the past four years. Richard will resign his position on the Board, and other directorships, following the meeting today and on behalf of the Board I would like to wish him well with the next stage of his career."
