Ashmore Group plc ("Ashmore") today announces the appointment of Melda Donnelly to the Board as a Non Executive Director effective 1st July 2009. On appointment she will join the Audit Committee of the Board. Melda Donnelly (aged 59) is an Australian citizen and a Chartered Accountant. She is the Founder and Chairperson of the Centre for Investor Education. Current directorships include Chairperson of Hochma Development Fund Pty Ltd and Deputy Chairperson of Victorian Funds Management Corporation. 

Ms Donnelly's past investment experience includes being CEO of Queensland Investment Corporation and Deputy Managing Director of ANZ Funds Management. She is currently a Committee Member of the Superannuation Advisory Group, Australia and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Oxford University Centre for Ageing

There are no further details required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13 in connection with her appointment.
