Appian Technology PLC07 May 2008 Appian Technology plc / Ticker: APN / Market: AIM / Sector: Technology 7 May 2008 Appian Technology plc ('Appian' or 'the Company') £402,000 in new Commercial and Police ANPR orders Appian Technology plc, the AIM listed provider of Automatic Number PlateRecognition systems ('ANPR') and traffic management products and solutions, haswon three new contracts totalling £402,000 to install fixed site ANPR systemswith two new commercial customers and a UK metropolitan police force. The Company has won a £174,000 order for its ANPR technology to be used at alarge shopping centre in the London area, where it will monitor and record allvehicle movement in all car-parks on this extensive retail site. Following acompetitive tender process, Appian has also won a £123,000 contract from a largecounty council in the south of England, to install ANPR technology at theentrance to a number of local council household waste sites. The system, whichworks by recording all number plates at every site and then automaticallyalerting the site operators if a vehicle exceeds set visitor frequency limits,will be used to detect 'trade' abuse of council waste and refuse sites. Additionally, Appian has won a £105,000 order for nine of its recently developedStinger intelligent ANPR cameras, which will be installed at fixed sites in aLondon borough and used by the police and other security agencies to monitorvehicle movement.
