Notification of Substantial Shareholding

The Company announces that it was notified on 18 February 2009 that, as at close of business on 17 February 2009, Afren plc has a notifiable interest in 219,379,100 Ordinary Shares of 0.5p in the Company. This represents 21.3 per cent of the Company's total issued share capital.
