In accordance with Listing Rule 9.6.14, Associated British Foods plc (the 'Company') confirms that Javier Ferrán, a non-executive director of the Company, will be appointed as a non-executive director of Diageo plc ('Diageo') from 22 July 2016 and that he is to be appointed Chairman of Diageo on 1 January 2017.

The Company also confirms that Javier Ferrán, a non-executive director of SABMiller plc ('SABMiller'), will step down as a director of SABMiller with effect from that company's annual general meeting on 21 July 2016, when he will not stand for re-election.
