Abbey PLC17 April 2008 Abbey Plc (the 'Company') Share Buy Back Abbey Plc announces that on 17 April 2008, it purchased 150,000 ordinary sharesof €0.32 each in the issued share capital of the Company ('Ordinary Shares') at€5.80 per share for cancellation. Following the above the total number of Ordinary Shares in issue is 25,593,670. This purchase was made pursuant to the authority granted by shareholders at anExtraordinary General Meeting of the Company held on 19 November 2007. To date3,375,853 shares have been repurchased under this authority.
