Abbey PLC04 October 2007 CHAIRMAN'S REMARKS TO SHAREHOLDERS AT AGM ABBEY CURRENT TRADING Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 70th Annual General Meeting of Abbey plc.Before commencing the formalities this morning, I wish to make a brief statementabout current trading. Trading in the early months of our new year is off to a good start with turnoverto date running ahead of last year. In Ireland, seasonally strong trading inthe spring slowed in the summer and is yet to significantly push ahead thisautumn. In southern England the market continues to be active notwithstanding recentturbulence driven by the chronic shortage of quality accommodation across theregion. Our first project in Prague was launched in July from plans and has alreadyachieved 16 sales at an average price of €200,000. It is very encouraging. Overall although the Group will inevitably be influenced by any adverse economicconditions, a satisfactory year is in prospect.
