Statement re Spain
888, one of the world's most popular online gaming entertainment and solutions providers, confirms that it has concluded its discussions with the Spanish authorities regarding gaming duty which may be payable in respect of operations between January 2009 and May 2011 in order to secure a Spanish eGaming Licence.
Following these discussions 888 has completed a self-assessment tax return and made a one-off payment of €7.4 million in addition to surcharges and interest expected to be up to €1.3 million, all from its cash resources.
The Group has been paying gaming duty in respect of its Spanish operations since May 2011.
Following this payment, 888 believes that it has fulfilled all requirements necessary to receive a Spanish eGaming licence, with awards set to begin at the start of June.
