Contract for software distribution
UBC announces deal to represent "Radioplayer" software globally.
UBC Media Group (UBC) is pleased to announce that, in partnership with Imagination Technologies Group plc (LSE:IMG) it has been appointed to handle the global licencing and sales of the Radioplayer Internet media player that has been pioneered by the UK radio industry.
UBC's software division, Unique Interactive, has been working closely with the Radioplayer consortium for two years and is already responsible for the software that manages both station listings and search functionality.
The success in the UK - where Radioplayer has more than 7 million users - has generated considerable interest abroad in the project, which creates a single media player for the entire UK radio industry. Together with Imagination, UBC will now market the software via a partnership vehicle - Radioplayer Worldwide - and will share revenues with the UK industry.
Simon Cole, Chief Executive of UBC commented:
