Greensands - the holding company of Southern Water - agrees shareholder loan

Southern Water is regulated in real price terms with revenues and Regulated Capital Value (RCV) indexed to the retail price index (RPI). With the decline in RPI, as a precautionary measure and in order to ensure that Greensands, Southern Water's holding company, had sufficient headroom under the terms of its debt facilities at 31 March 2009, its shareholders contributed approximately £85 million in temporary shareholder loans to Greensands on 27 March 2009.
