Reading these sycophantic crystal ball posts is enough to shake anyone's sanity.

I particularly liked the one several posts ago where someone suggested "we"all throw a party in London for good old pal - Nick when it's over so "we" can all pat eachother on the back and discuss how "we" made it such a success. As if Nick gave a flying f**k about the royal "we" and how you made a cool ten grand on the way up.....
Get a grip lads, FFS. This is the stock market - there's no emotion and certainly no back office full of traders fiddling with the stock price...it's ALL a gamble. NM gambled with SOLG in 2005 when the share price hit rock bottom, Newcrest gambled (@ 41p and then watched their share plummet) and now BHP are gambling. "We" might get lucky and the drilling rigs will hit something of value and the Ecuadorian government might not reinstate the windfall tax. It most certainly isn't all about piercing upper channels and bears feeding that's for sure!
PLEASE don't bet what you can't afford to lose. Gambling is addictive remember...................

NM has stated they will go to production. Problem is they don't have the infrastructure or knowledge - hence BHP onboard. Could be he has welcomed their approach under strict guidelines - IE take SOLG to production.
Alternatively - NM is 61. Been with SOL for 13 years. The guys knackered. He wants to enjoy his efforts. Why 'hang around' for another 3+ years to watch SOLG produce?
SOLG goes to production, BHP is the vehicle. BHP buys NM out.

Filthy - whats with that dog of a share (SXX) you posted on here? I bought in at 11p, bailed at 24p when they decided to dig a 22km tunnel when there is an old disused railway line along the same route. Company isn't in safe hands and it's atleast 5=7 years off. I'll keep it simple:
"Punters" (like me, when it comes to shares), on the whole, hang off every word that certain posters make. Now if that poster sounds like an expert, it reinforces their decision nmaking process. The problem is - unless one devotes ones life to S and S (as you have) they are simply being misguided. Why - because if one did make serious money in S and S, one wouldn't be wasting one's time on a public forum talking to a bunch of amateurs "helping" them gamble even more (as they don't have your experience or luck). You need to be aware of this "Filthy rich" and add the standard bold letter warnings to your posts: DYOR.
My background - I've never worked since I was 18. I don't call "flipping properties" - work.
I - like you - made my first million (profit) in my early 30's from buying and selling bricks and mortar around the world. I dabble in S and S for a laugh because I like gambling!
But I don't go on house forums telling everybody how much of an expert I am and "telling them" I know everything about certain S and S. That is irresponsible. Why? Because I judge my success on timing and luck. That is a personal trait one cannot pass onto others.
Congrats on your continued success - but please have the humility to offer due care with your musings to others.

Suffice to say real (legitimate) money is made elsewhere (property, paintings, cars, for example). Mind you all of this will be seriously dented when QE ends. S and S are for fun, taking a punt. Never forget that. Enjoy the chase for a fast buck but be prepared to lose the lot. Only spend what you can afford to lose is my motto.
The only other lesson i have learned about keeping your money is - employ a very good accountant!

ALL sharedealing is gambling (with the odd example like insider dealing), simply because the person dealing (or as you naively describe it: investing, has absolutely NO control over the outcome. You know that I know that...let's not kid ourselves kidda. It's as you interestingly describe in your 'handle': lottohopes!
The idea is to try to improve your stakes by taking advantage of market forces when you THINK they are behaving in your favour. Nothing more, nothing less.
The scary people are those who talk about candlesticks and gradients and god knows what... Now they really are the ones to steer clear of. Why - because if there was the tiniest element of truth in those thar graphs, they wouldn't be here playing on their keyboards like the rest of us mortals - they would be cruising the balearic islands in their $100 million dollar yachts. {Because they would know where the market was going wouldn't they}. Charts and graphs are by their very nature; HISTORIC.

I have been investing for over 35 years - for a laugh. I made six figure sums during the dotcom era and lost 90% of it in the years following - easy come easy go. I now have a portfolio acfross the risk spectrum. I have been with SOLG for 4 years and bought in @ 7p at one of my several stages. Other stages: 36p. Average: 21p. I'm @ just shy of 400k shares.
It's a game - SOLG 'looks' ripe. I shall "maintain a listening watch" for a wee while longer and eject any time after a reasonable SP hike.
My personal feelings about SOLG: NM doesn't have the infrastructure in place to go to production. He isn't a young man either and will probably not want to hang around with all the bollox involved in production, so I think he'll sell at the right time to a proper producer and sail off into the future while he still can enjoy his wealth.
I personally think solg (Cascabel) is worth £1.5 billion. Whats that in SP terms... (1.7 billion shares) 90p (ish)?

This forum has become a miserable, rambling, visceral, off topic site. It's changed so much since we all chatted about the stock rather than politics. Even when stock is mentioned its depressing or negative comments. I've been here since 2009 and in LLOY since well before that. Loved the charity challenge Asperger is running(?). BUT - a couple of w*nkers have bugg*red it all up and the administrators couldn't give a flying fig. To those still here from the 'better' days - all the best boys. That video link: Amazing how NM reels off facts and figures to an unnerving accuracy! Does anyone have any ideas why this stock is retreating these last couple of weeks? I have lnog term high hopes for it but the news doesn't equal the SP? Anyone?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe NM may want to take this company all the way to mining and production? IF that was the case, wouldn't it mean shareholders waiting ages for any decent profits while the machinery to produce was set up over several years? Far better to sell out to the highest bidder over the next few months (eithr a portion or all of the tenements) giving us the fruits of our participation!

Magical Trevor - profit taking is underway old boy and will be everytime OXB pops above 9p for some time. In September the stock will almost certainly be approved but be advised, although this is first in class from an immunocellular therapy process- dozens of other therapies along the same lines will follow very close behind which will probably slug the exponential rise of the SP you are hoping for. With luck and a fair wind, I expect this stock to level out after September, at around 20p, ish.

This is after all, only a recommendation - but one would hope it is taken seriously at the next stage with the FDA (is it?). Bought another 100k shares this am on the news but only because the SP hasn't ignited - staggering why this is so?? Must be because the drug is its first in this new class of drugs and people haven't got their heads around it yet? Let's see what happens. GLA

The big day: If the drug is approved the SP will peak at 18p. If it is rejected the stock will drop to 5p.
