I watched the Delorean story recently. Delorean turned out to be a "malignant Narcissist" (his wifes words) after being dethroned from the seat of CEO. The man would do anything to make his project work....to the expense of everything else. Eventually he was caught in a 'sting' by the FBI.
There are synergies with solg . Eventually the CEO was caught out at the AGM in a sting by BHP/NCM!

For my own benefit, I am looking for clarification of your position (don't laugh - I know you've re-iterated it 2 zillion times) as some comments appear to negate where you're coming from....

Your latest mantra: "This company is going to production".
We all know that....of course it is, otherwise why does it exist?
Here's my first request for clarification please: Are you (still) saying that Solg will run with this on their own ...all the way to production...as the management team and 'lead'?
Or
Are do you accept that Solg can't do this 'on their own' and need to JV to get there?

There has never been ANY discussion, ever - of Alpala having its surrounding area as an Open Pit - never. It has always been block cave from day 1. FACT.
Perez led the opposition to mining on previous occasions against several EXISTING mines across Ecuador and has gone on record as wanting planned mines shut down before they even get started.
What Perez (or any other new leader) does after winning bears NO relationship to respecting existing arrangements with the IMF or any other international agreements...this is ECUADOR...ffs! Perez is an indigenous peasant...nothing more, nothing less. He represents the local people not any banks or institutions......
Finally - if lasso loses...and the run off is between Aruaz and Perez on the 11/4..what's to say the voters behind Lasso...don't prop up Perez?

It's just that you happen to disagree with the content - yes?

Morning shipwright - We've all been reading various extracts from different papers regarding environmentalists and tree huggers objecting to mining in Ecuador, over the years - right?
The ecuadorian public (or should I say the indigenous sector) are dead against mining on a massive scale, especially in or close to their protected areas. CGP are defending a court case at one of their sites because they appear to be operating in such an area.
Alpala has always (to date) been planned as a block cave model. Now it appears as if by returning to the drawing board, the option of open pit mining has surfaced as a viable option.
I believe this may become an unacceptable option to the 'new' government led by Aruaz.
Mark my words - if Perez (the leader of the indigenous people) gets in - this mine will never be built. It will fester until the next election after this and hopefully re-start again under new stewardship in Ecuador.

Crewtime - the current number two in the Ecuadorian elections is NOT pro mining. The existing leader (Merino) who has "fled"(?) to the USA, cannot be reselected. And finally - Solg has already 'dropped like a bomb'. Where were you last week???

The 2 frontrunners want 'responsible' mining and are perceived not to be a threat to Solg.
Pertez will close companies like Solg down with immediate effect! Thankfully he is a non runner but once eliminated, it is expected that he will support Aruaz.
Aruaz - is a Correa puppet and will be guided by Correa from a distance (he's run away to Belgium to avoid extradition). Aruaz is not the US favourite. Aruaz has also pointed out that he will ditch the IMF in favour of the chinese (now there's a thought?)
Lasso - has already been caught with his hand in the till and has been found out to have various offshore bank accounts which were unregistered??
IMO - Aruaz will edge in on the 11th April, courtesy of Perez, corruption on a massive scale will continue as normal in Ecuador......but the chinese will be one step closer to taking over the country...and possibly buying out Solg.......

Viable and all. I will not be surprised if the Ecuadorian (new) government reject any plans for an open pit! The government are aready fighting a rearguard action to fend off all the environmentalists and anti mining confederations dotted around the country. An open pit will devastate the environment.....
Atleast with block cave mining, the footprint is limited.
