I know the feeling about first posts.
Below is my first post.
I had bought shares earlier and tend to avoid chat sites.
I posted because we had just received really GREAT news about GGP and because Paddy and others had been so helpful here.
This site has its ups and down but well worth reading and I hope that you will also contribute.
There will be plenty more good news to keep your eyes on over the next few months - and years.

My first post is to give BIG thanks to so many people on this site, you have done a great job,
I bought my shares years ago so am very happy.
Years ago I spent time on gold mine shares and did very well but its a very risky and nerve racking business so I stopped.
GGP is my only holding.
I shall keep an eye on the gold price now!

If one man is able to pan 1 oz of gold a day from his small claim and the price of gold rises from $500 to $1000 per ounce he would be very pleased to hear about it.
He might even consider selling up for a good price.
Yes, the price of gold and copper, up or down, is what will make a difference to GGP and all other producers.

Some old timers here who got into GGP nice and early!
Hambros in Russia was good for me and I have only done a few other things since then, but heard about GGP exploration and am having another flutter.
Still confident that everything will work out very well here. So much depends on the price of gold and copper.

If you can remember the Otago, NZ gold rush in 1860 you are a bit older than me!

That is very true about inflation - I call it Moneypox!
Gold was good in the 70's but gold mining shares made some people REALLY rich at that time. They can go up 3 times higher than gold.
Always a difficult area to invest in but having some gold allows you to do riskier things!
And GGP isn't really risky!

20 years ago I bought some gold for 200 pounds, per oz - that was Brown's bottom.
Today gold is 1550 pounds per oz..
No one who EVER bought gold in pounds and held gold is in the red!

I am looking forward to 2023.
Higher gold and copper prices will suit Greatland very well.

2024 will be even better.

Though the GGP share price is silly low I am confident that all is well with the company and I am really looking forward to good things for 2023.

Hello Speadymeadle,
Just to say that I do agree with you - the price of gold is of course a very important factor in gold mining.
Holding some physical gold over long periods - 10 years + - tends to be a safe investment and can be tax free as you say.
This allows one to make some risky investments, maybe in gold explorers or junior gold miners!
Specially with 'Moneypox' now affecting nearly all world fiat currencies.

Yes, I bought a lot of GGP shares in the very early days and invested some of the profits here. Many years before that Hambros !
Lots of lessons learnt over the years, explorers and gold mines are so tricky, - the hardest lesson of all is to take some profits!

And when the gold sees the light of day it will be worth a few bob....

It can be good to take a little profit from time to time...

Want to balance the budget? Go back to the gold standard.
Our new Chancellor, Kwasi Karteng, is very well informed and has studied the history of gold. He published a book - 'War and Gold'.
There are several videos online where he is interviewed and some book reviews.
He seems to think that gold gives more stability than paper money.
He says -
'I could envisage a way in which you could get back to the gold standard. If the Chinese unilaterally declared that the Renminbi would be pegged to gold it would essentially recreate the gold standard.”
