Well, that 6% rise yesterday didn't last long did it !! What do holders here think about the move to US ? Sounds a logical and positive move to me but with the uncertainty everywhere including the US it doesn't necessarily mean the sp will improve. Thoughts?

...better times for this sp at the moment. Wish I could say the same for Europe and the world situation. Please resolve the terrible situation soon, please, please.

I hear you George....but ever since it was announced on the 11th of February this sp has only gone one way, down! However, it's only to be expected and nowt to do with aim is it.

.....a relentless fall ? Can't help thinking that something is afoot here that is yet to be publicised. The trouble in Europe is terrible but this fall started prior to last week.

..after watching these for the last 3 months I decided to buy Tuesday...and look what happens! Once, just once, I'd like to invest in something without it dropping within minutes stay dropping DOH !! Happy new year, yeah, right, LOL ;-)

Sports Direct tycoon Mike Ashley has offered to buy Footasylum from arch-rival Peter Cowgill's group JD Sports, according to reports.

Ashley's approach comes weeks after the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) ordered JD Sports to sell the trainer company.

JD Sports bought Footasylum for £90million in March 2019 – but regulators are concerned that it reduces choice for shoppers.

Cowgill's group has said the CMA's decision is 'inexplicable' and 'defies logic'.
Ashley has notified the CMA that he is keen to buy the shoe group, the Sunday Times reported.

JD Sports,whose festive ad campaign has featured pop star Rita Ora, is valued at almost £11billion and is listed on the FTSE 100.

This is much bigger than Frasers Group, which is worth £3.8billion and on the FTSE 250.

Only a couple of days out with my prediction, jeez.

Building equipment rental firm Ashtead bolstered its position as the best-performing FTSE 100 stock this year after a construction boom in the US.

It jumped 3.9 per cent, or 224p, to 6442p after it upgraded full-year guidance following a ‘record first half performance’ in the six months to the end of October.

Pre-tax profits swelled 38 per cent year-on-year to £673million while revenues jumped 18 per cent to £2.9billion. It also hiked its interim dividend by 28 per cent to 9p per share.

The figures were boosted by reconstruction in the US following the 2021 hurricane season, which caused over £53billion worth of damage. Its equipment has also been in demand in the UK, helping to build after Covid.

.....the increased interim dividend is still not worth much, only 0.15%. Yep, I realise that the high sp 'devalues ' the yield and also, evidently, AHT is one of the highest increasing dividend payers YOY in the uk stock market. Ah, well, not complaining too much as long as my capital increases

I tend to agree about a share split. JD Sports have just done that and have done several times over the years and that's when their sp only gets to about £12 to £15.
Regarding quiet bb....maybe, but keenly watched by a bunch of happy investors...like me. Like all FTSE equities, it's been a frustrating 3 or 4 months without any sustained increases unlike over the pond. Let's hope Omicron stays in the background without deaths (unlikely) and our index recovers somewhat. GLA

other iron ore miners.......BHP well up too. AAL sp not up but they have other problems affecting them at the moment

That article was a good find. Sounds a bit more promising for Rio and may be the reason for the sp rise today. GLA
