Luck counts I agree with most of what you said ! I have already started buying however the only thing concerning is who the new ceo will be ! If it’s someone like Kevin Hart (we could be in trouble)

I think to get rid of the history of under delivery and poor performance a merger of equals with another London listed oily might be beneficial... someone like Soco who are also SE Asia focussed or even revisiting Premier Oil who they have liked for many years ... it would give the company the chance to scale up and improve

Tdante The market just doesn’t give much credence to what OPHR have to say... it’s basically saying “show me the money” or “ I’ll believe it when I see it”! Also uncertainty regarding who the new permanent CEO will be will have a big impact on how this share is perceived ! I don’t think it’s arificially being kep low ! I think buying has been lacklustre (judging by trading volumes)

I don’t think the market has understood the value available here (profitable, money making producer with strong assets , explo upside and no debt) ! This should be at least double where we are based on other oil cos valuations! I’m accumulating around this share price Good luck all

At these sort of prices , there’s money to be made ! THe guys that bough In at 1p++ aren’t going to find any comfort in that ... but for new buyers there’s potential to double your money in a short period ! Not one to hold long term but a return to the mid twenties could conceivably happen quite easily...

Yes newkotb I like the fact that institutional investors own a significant chunk ! There’s a positive and negative side to that though... if the II wanted out, then the share price will get absolutely mauled! ! One other thing I don’t like is the fact they are looking for a new ceo! Why not just give the job to Allan Booth? He is 1st class!! If anyone can get Ophir sold at a premium it’s him!

If someone knows why the market is punishing OPHIR so much, let me know ( answers on a post card) ! Surly it can’t be due to dissolving one LnG and delays with Fortuna! The market doesn’t care about that asset and is valuing it at ZERO!

I’ve been reviewing presentations, RNSs and annual reports and something just doesn’t add up! Everything I have read makes this company way too cheap ! Comparing it to it’s peers it’s cheap on every single metric (2P, 2C, production, revenue, cost per bbl etc etc )! Why on earth is a company with these assets trading at less than £300 million? This makes me feel uneasy and concerned! Unless there is something we haven’t been informed out ! Usually when something falls this relentlessly, there’s usually something rotten in the state of Denmark!

The North Sea deals are there to be had! Lots of larger and mid sized companies are reducing their exposure to the older North Sea fields ! In the industry we are hearing talk about lots of discussions regarding potential deals and assets for sale! I just hope JOG are part of that! I must say being a SQZ shareholder has been a pleasure! Management there are just 1st Class! I would be royally pd off if JOG can’t pull anything off over the next 6- 18 months !

Just started looking into OPHR this morning and whilst looking at the management team noticed that a certain ALLAN BOOTH was running the show ! I have very happy memories from the Encore days ! Allan made me a very happy investor ! I held the share for less than 6 months and more than doubled my money! This guy is an industry veteran, deal maker and a very shrewd operator!

Had Ophir when it listed and I made decent money around the £5-6 region !! Haven’t followed the company since but looks like a history of bad performance, poor management and under delivery has completely destroyed the company ! Now trading at less than 10% what I sold for, I’m tempted to have a little punt! Will do some research over the WE and may be go for some next week! Can someone give me a brief synopsis of how we got here to get my research started ? Cheers

Hopefully see some stability from here and a bounce back over 700 in the next week or so ! The fall was ridiculous! Company gets trashed for making an acquisition! Russia has risks but this is just too cheap !

Fairdealer I must say if shorting is the aim, there’s far more easier shares to short than this one ! But it’s a market so if he wants to short good luck to him!

It was closer to £5 than to £7 at lunch time ! Truly shocked at the magnitude of the fall ! Expected this from a tiny minnow but not for a company about to enter the Ftse 100!! Just WOW ! I’ll top up below 500p (if it gets there in the next couple of days) ! Volume absolutely massive ! Selling is relentless!

Come on there’s no way in hell no matter what happens on results day that these can go down to 20p ! They already said they reckon there’s 20 odd million bbls downthere minimum!!!! At 20p , the whole company is valued at £4 million+ Come on Gray Bird no matter what you think of the board and company surely you can’t be serious!!!!! Anyway may be you’ll change your mind once you’re back on the island and have had a chance to talk with our illustrious leader !!!

No worries AJAX , yes GB mentioned he wants to make money both ways which is interesting but quite risky also ! He could get his short closed out automatically if there’s a quick jump upwards and then later on lose on the long position ! This is a oil minnow and could go up quickly without warning (obviously the opposite could also happen) and therefore just too volatile for his strategy imo! Good luck to him though! If he can make money, then that’s the aim of the game !
