RE: The future of Ai..will it ever make money ?16 Dec 2025 20:36
Good post @ Brick104
“Faster, better, cheaper” is dead in an AI world because AI is instant, massively scalable, and basically free.
If you’re going to be a challenger, then actually challenge something. Monks needs to shift its narrative to something like - AI orchestrated content and personalisation with human creative direction and enterprise grade integration. Agree the 20% margin target they keep talking about is ambitious but it’s the minimum required to stabilise a business with a shrinking top line. The fact we’re still nowhere near industry norms shows how far the operating model drifted from what S4 was supposed to be and how sorrell is losing his touch.
On the AI side, tools are absolutely reshaping marketing, but they don’t remove the need for experts. The value has shifted from producing content to orchestrating AI workflows, ensuring quality, brand consistency, and integrated campaigns across platforms. That still requires experienced operators, strategists and creatives.
So yes the demand for partners like Monks still exists. But the opportunity is in becoming the AI integration layer for brands, not an old-fashioned production aggregator. That’s the part they now need to execute on.
