The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Many thanks greatly appreciated.
I've checked companies house and the directors seem to have a lot of experience in medical companies as well so time to raid the piggy bank
Having consistently got overly excited about a number of shares can I ask those of you that have been around this longer that the couple of weeks that I’ve been looking into RUA.
The Business update RNS of the 5th mentions FY24 revenue of £2.2 million which is only slightly above the revenue of £2.18 million noted in the March 23 accounts.
The RNS mentions that the operating cost for 2024 are expected to be £3.4 million.
Am I correct that the cash burn will be the difference between the two -£1.2 million.
Given the RNS of April the 5th gives the approximate cash position of £4 million am I correct that if the prospective tie ups don’t succeed then it could see another capital raise in around 3 years.
I would appreciate some insight into how more knowledgeable on this board see the next 3 years playing out and whether you’ve got any milestones that you are looking forward to that will demonstrate to you successful underlying progress.
with too much time on their hands, no skin in the game telling those who have how they saw this coming. You could choose a stock by sticking a pin in a list of AIM companies, say the selection is doomed and 6 months later be proved right. Even the most researched investment in AIM is still a gamble. Only time will tell the outcome here and nothing anyone says will make a blind bit of difference. It will be what it will be. I'd imagine that AR will be concerned about his reputation and the effect this debacle could have on future deals. Hopefully this will turn out ok........GL to the genuine investors here
Don't think this is BS end, more the dodgy sh*tbags collectively known as our previous BOD I got involved blind because AR was associated with it and knew that this was a gamble and one I was happy to take. I'm used to winning and losing and fortunately have made more than I have lost following AR. I do not blame AR at all as this was my decision and my one real gamble of the year. Everything is conjecture and rumour at the moment and I am more than aware that there is nothing I can do about it . I've decided to write this off and concentrate on my other investments and see what shakes out at the end of the process I hope this gets sorted and we all get something back out of this....GLA
Not far off that myself, I would certainly hope for a multibagger.....but only time will tell and at least something has finally happened...LOL
tozerk, listen to AR's previous interviews. He always says he tries to help the long suffering shareholders as well as make money himself. Gains are not guaranteed, they never are and this is AIM after all. However historically AR has managed to give a decent return on investment with most of the RTO's. Note I say most...this is still a gamble , but one that I am comfortable with. To be fair the amount you make will depend on your entry point. I've done this before and have invested 50% already with the 50% in my ISA waiting for the cash call. I only got involved because AR is. Good luck to you anyway
Spike...Don't bite mate...they are obviously haven't got a clue and have no idea about what AR does with RTO's. I've got a few quid put by for a capital raise as this always happens, then onwards and upwards ;)
I am happy that you are happy that I am happy, but sad that you cannot see what I have bought into
I for one are happy with my investment here and I do not base my investment decisions on unfounded negative comments from people that I do not know!
I think AR might have a bit more control that he's being given credit for......... NEW did have a stand at the show but it was empty! Just the name above the stand....... I accept that I am the eternal optimist......because if NEW have nothing to announce/promote on the oil side ...........it makes me think that AR and NWOG are blocking any future oily ventures (so a degree of control must be there). I see this as good news in light of the recent rise in oils price. I'd actually be concerned if the stand had been up and running!
Hi Dm, Visited the show today and AR was his usual eloquent self. TW asked AR very directly when he was going to pull his finger out with both FRI and NEW! AR quite rightly said he could not answer that question...not surprising really! Plus TW gave a complete, well structured lecture on market abuse and insider dealing earlier in the day, so AR could have ended up in deep do do if he had made any disclosure. After a very awkward silence that seemed to last forever...AR did say: 1. that he does not get involved in companies that he doesn't do anything with 2. he won't let the shareholders down So a little disappointing not to hear anything but not really a surprise, but in saying that NEW was always a long play for me and I have no reason to doubt the validity of my investment here. So back to sleep for me while I wait for that RNS that WILL come in due course. GLA ;)
no but I detect dodgy!
try answering one of the many questions I've asked you first
Your more than welcome for what its worth, its generally the blind leading the blind here anyway. Feels more like a self help group some times. Holding same ish numbers myself........and agree with your estimates. As you say it all depends on how the market reacts....I'd love to try trading the trend as I'm sure there will be one but I'm hopeless at it. With CHA I was damned lucky bought in at what turned out to be close to the low and sold half my stake when it double in value. Its been pants ever since but you never know whats round the corner! Best of Luck to you
Hi Heart........ one of the most difficult questions to answer is the one about when to invest. The trouble is no-one know. Its a personal decision dependent upon your circumstances, but never stick in more than you can afford to flush down the toilet or will need next week. Please don't take any of the below as negative, I am very positive about NEW but as you say your are a novice I'll point out some of the obvious pitfalls with this type of investment choice. In reality there are a number of ways that this could go........take a look at the CHA board and you'll see what we don't want to happen..... cash shell with a £4 mill but the investment that was made did not hit the right note with the market. It actually spiked on speculation before the RNS dropped back and then dropped further on the announcement.....It looks like something may be happening again but WTFDIK. If you want to invest now you will have sit back and wait......hopefully not too long but patience is key. or Wait and see what the RNS says and try and jump on the coat tails assuming it is loved by the market. AR usually makes a good choice so hopefully up up and away we go. AR normally announces a placement on or around announcement of the RTO but at at a discount for existing shareholders. I can't remember if shareholders had to be invested on a certain date to qualify last time. So if you are planning this as longer term you may wish to investigate this and get in sooner than later. But you should always DYOR on who your backing and how they operate anyway. Sometimes when the RNS lands you see a spike slight retrace as holder consolidate profits and then a further upward climb again followed by a slight retrace and repeat etc etc as the market cottons on to the future possibilities. To be blunt is AIM and anything can happen....sorry cannot be of more help...personally I closed my eyes, crossed my fingers and said a little prayer when I hit the deal button....Good luck to you whatever you decide to do.
Agreed...........it totally depends on the type of deal..........in saying that though AR does tend to pick pretty sexy established entities that just need a leg up to the next level.
Hi Neil, my hopes are reasons for investing in this share are purely based on AR and his track record. I agree with other posters here today that it is getting a bit boring now and the temptation to jump ship grows the longer we wait and weight up alternative opportunities. It would be my luck that I'd jump 5 minutes before an RNS hits. AR tends to do one or two of these shell cash RTO's things a year. At the moment I think he just has NEW and FRI waiting for the 'Transformation Treatment'. I looked at both and decided on NEW because it had more general interest shown in it. I wasn't bothered about the positive and negative comments I was more interested in the fact NEW was being discussed more. So far FRI seems to have been even more boring than NEW so at least I have had been well entertained by the comments on this board thus far.........In saying that I am down 35% which is not that entertaining. I have done this before with AR an to be fair we are following a similar pattern. I only invest £3-4K initially and keep cash available to take up any offer of additional shares when the placement and RTO happens. Hopefully there will be good news before the Investor Show or even announced at it........... until then I'm content to sit and patiently wait....GLA
Cashking............how are you calculating this? Are you working on the average historic monthly expenditure from the last accounts/RNS and extrapolating forward? IMHO I would expect the savings to filter through in stages so this months expenditure should be much less than the same month last year. It is normal to see cost cutting filter through on a downward curve rather than falling off a cliff. This is due to the time it takes to exit certain positions, its not always like turning off a tap. I appreciate that there is no revenue, but without management accounts none of us really know what the true monthly cash reduction is. I trust Reynolds.........have made money with him before..........and as he signed off on the accounts I trust that he has tight rein on the cash and that the figure is higher than you suggest.

W1LLM many thanks for posting the youtube below. I thought it deserved another airing! I just watched it again and yes anyone that is experiencing doubts about Reynolds or is bored waiting for something to happen should take a look. I will admit that I thought about jumping ship short term to follow the herd into one or two of the recent big short lived risers. However, I’m a rubbish day trader and every time I try, I remind myself how cr*p I am at it. So when I’m sure I’m on to a good thing I tend to just sticking with it. I'm 100% convinced those with patience will be amply rewarded with this one. So here I sit with a nice mug of Horlicks doing what I do best............playing the waiting game.....GLA
