@Capitalistpig - Thanks. I know they were interested in bidding for the same cinema chain that we bought in 2018. Since then they have acquired one or two cinemas, possibly solely for the purpose of making their films more eligible for awards.
There is no news now saying that they are looking to acquire any more cinemas, and any articles published recently about that is just pure click bait speculation. However can't rule it out as they are in the same industry, and probably would not be able to acquire us more cheaply in the future. So a chance, but a very small one!
A couple of things to note. We are mostly based in the US:
https://www.cineworldplc.com/en/our-cinemas
While we are seeing a surge in new cases in the UK, we are not seeing the same in the US: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
Over 65% of over 12s already received one vaccine dose in USA. Vaccines currently being issues at around 0.5m per day.
70-90% of population needs to be vaccinated for herd immunity.
Focus more on what is going on in the USA as that is where we have the vast majority of our outlets.
While Delta is a concern, it does not look to be taking the same hold over in the US as it has in the UK.
Black Widow Box Office - https://deadline.com/2021/07/black-widow-disney-marvel-international-box-office-1234788577/
Box Office actually above expectations, and did not include data from important regions.
US Domestic Box Office for July - https://www.boxofficemojo.com/month/july/2021/
Consider that there are a limited number of films being shown at this time. Two years ago during July, there were more than 3 times as many. As the months continue we will be reaching those sorts of numbers quickly.
For me, I can't understand the massive drops except for manipulation and increased shorting.
Looking ahead to the results I think Mooky will address any funding issues, possibly if the board considers more capital is needed (which I doubt) I guess that would already be arranged with a bond or similar issue of debt.
I can't see the major problem here... Debt while large, we can see from the results, the interest on the debt is manageable, and as things improve we'll be able to pay down the debt.
No chance... Have to pay down debt and get income steadied.
No, not short, wait. I got in this last time around at 107ish only to see it drop off for weeks. Let's face it the news that is coming up is more negative at the moment, let's see what the next few days bring. Super volatile and low 100s I think is on the cards, that's my opinion - And it's just that, DYOR.
ok, I see, thanks, that makes sense, and could be quite costly for the shorter then.
So anyone short needs to cover the script? Does anyone know exactly how that works?

At crazy moment like those - where the share just dropped literally 8% in minutes on no news, think to the facts. And one fact is that the majority of competitor cinemas are open in the US. Cine is 75% US cinemas, we are days away from our cinemas beginning to be open and the tills ringing... The US is in the best position of any country except Israel with respect to vaccinations.
Depends on what view you take. In a month this may well be a lot higher, but in a couple of days, you may see a better opportunity to get in. Your call. Holders and traders will be selling on this kind of a rise IMO.
Yes, if everyone takes the scrip there is no benefit because of dilution, but I would think it is a big problem for the shorters, who will have to cover the scrip, and provide whoever they have borrowed the shares from the extra scrip dividend shares, the cost of which would be a lot more than a dividend. The dividend costs the company nothing (except fees), as it is not distributing profits, so should not really drop on XD.

Also have to consider some competitor travel options may have gone to the wall. There could be a travel boom this year and next due to many people having a lot more savings and a lack of a holiday next year. There is a lot of potential here... As long as things stay on schedule.

Yes a long way to go for RR, probably more than the the airlines at this point as it was always lagging in the recent weeks. Shorts left with no option but to close as air travel is coming closer and closer every day.
