Strong numbers imply us interest rates remaining higher meaning higher dollar. As a lot of ftse100 companies are international in oil and banking a strong dollar is beneficial. DT said a strong dollar impacted their revenues downwards in their Autumn update. Go figure.

Most of us are holders because we bought at a higher price than today's close. If you could get out with no loss would you get back in? This stock has behaved like a day trading share for most of its life, at the manipulation of the boiler room hyenas and coordinated hedge funds. As GAFG points out this has been in large part down to the poor guidance and management of the senior execs who at times seem to have been preoccupied with feathering their nests at the expense of shareholders.

We all remember when Peel Hunt came out and p*ssed on DTs parade back in '21 soon after they'd accidentally gained access to FTSE100. I, like many, was outraged that this relatively obscure outfit had trashed daring DT when they were flying high and you know who was touting £20 by Christmas. Reality set in and DTs and their brokers frankly poor response exacerbated the situation to the point that the the overhyped SP crashed to £3.20 by Feb 22. A decent trading update last March jolted the price a bit but apart from the Thoma Bravo excitement the SP has been in steady decline since. This share appears to have laid itself open to manipulation by the sort of characters people are preoccupied with now. As Old Gold points out even if they buy back £75m worth of shares there'll still be more in circulation than there were at IPO and dear Poppy's £100k gesture is quite insignificant when compared the amount the company gifted her.
The shorters see an opportunity and obviously those heavily invested and underwater are polarized to be aggrieved. This will continue until the Autonomy legacy is removed.

My understanding is that a contract is entered into whereby you 'sell' shares you don't own at their current SP gaining that revenue. The contract will have clauses including length and potentially amount of loss before being called in. So I guess you aren't selling my shares, you're entering a contract to pay for shares at a future date in return for an advance.

Put simply Panda, a short (what I used to know as a 'put') is when you enter a contract to sell shares in a company now - say at £1 - in the hope that anytime before the contract expires they have fallen significantly - say 50p - when you 'buy' them back to clear your account, keeping the difference. Of course this can (and is in this case ATM) work the other way. Where the legality becomes murky is when the short seller tries to influence the SP with dodgy information.

Whilst the report doesn't, and can't include up to the minute examples of dodgy dealing it does list examples that can be investigated. They acknowledge that DT has a product and clients but claim that the product is more limited than DT would have us believe. That is certainly the experience of the IT department where I worked. I was lambasted for pointing this out. I have lost a considerable amount on this through nobody's fault but my own but unless the company can convincingly address the points raised against them it looks ominous. Are we thinking a divi is likely? I would have thought they would want to pay down any debt in the absence of institutional pressure.

If you actually read BSR's original post they were asking for the worst case scenario.
All of what you say may well be true and I don't say any of it is likely.
Lets hope so.

Certainly looks like bad timing for her and the business. At least there are around 7m more shares now in circulation. Lets see if the Employee Share Scheme hoovers them up!

Notice that more than one shorter has reduced this month which I take as good news. Looks like they would have lost a bunch comparing the dates they opened, added and reduced. I'm not an expert on this. Maybey they are hedging against a long position?

If you only look to hold for a week I guess the downside outweighs the upside. The shorts haven't cashed in so that's where the pressure will come from until update in March.

There will be a trading update in the first part of Feb. I expect the numbers will come in as advised previously. The thing is they really need to be 10% up to be standing still.

Velo, unfortunately the quality of your output doesn't match the quantity. Recently you were spouting that revenue and net profits were increasing exponentially and calling me out for pointing out they weren't. Now it turns out that revenue growth is decreasing, let alone 'exponentially increasing'. You seem to be morphing from exponential to 'impressive' gains which are two different things. Who knows where you are getting net profit figures because as Lending points out they weren't published in the updates. Its a bit rich you accusing someone who does produce credible and considered analysis as biased, albeit that you clearly disagree with that analysis.
I think the key drivers now for DT is whether their product is any good, whether they can sell enough of it and whether the board can resist dipping into the cookie jar. I hope the SP improves but I see no compelling reason that it will. Certainly the arguments you've put forward do not convince.
