I bought these 1st May at £25.05. I thought they looked great value, did not expect this rise. I am a very happy man!

That would be nice! I've got no intention of selling any time soon, I really think sainsbury has been well oversold. I may, of course, be wildly wrong but I just don't see the justification for the massive drop over the last year, I think it's more speculative than based on the real world. Predictions of £1.50 just seem utterly ridiculous.

Make that almost 15p! I'm doing so well today I'm almost up to -30% with this one :)

Interesting this seems to be flat after yesterday's rise, despite the div and profits being ahead of expectations. If I was a cynical man I might almost say the markets got wind of these results a bit early

I've seen the steady fall from the high a couple of months ago but almost 8% in a day seems pretty extreme without some news underpinning it, especially on a day when the general trend was up. I'm not panicking yet though!

Yep, bought earlier this year at 262, just wish I'd bought a lot more of them now!

I know the results were decent (but not spectacular) and the increase in dividend is nice, but seeing as the general trend is down 8.7% seems a huge rise. Anyone have ideas as to why it's so big? (not that I'm complaining of course...)

True, I'm not really that worried - it's just as a relative newbie I still like watching the prices day-to-day and like to see them green! As I said I bought more on Friday and have no intention of selling for a long time to come so a couple of percent here and there really makes little difference to me in the long run.

Hope not too! If the recent drop really was in large part due to profit taking then I hope a lot of that has been done already and so the drop tomorrow won' t be too large. I have a gut feeling that it actually will drop by more, but that may just be my natural pessimism after topping up on Friday!

I'm fairly new to all this (only been buying for about 5 months) so am preparing to be shot down in flames but.. is it not possible people who bought in much lower than the current price decided to take the profits now, rather than wait for the dividend but see a much greater drop than 26p then? Although the price has taken a hit over the last few days it's still well above the price of even a couple of months ago. Don't get me wrong, I got a big surprise when I saw it dropping but once a little bit of panic sets in I can see how a mini-run of selling could take place. Personally I'm still in, and topped up a little more today when it dropped below 790. I still think it's decent value and as I'm planning to hold on to them for the long term 5% dividends appeals to me, as well as the price.
