South Africa's ambassador to Russia told Ria Novosti on Sunday that his country will be looking forward to receiving Russian President Vladimir Putin at the next BRICS summit.

"All presidents will be invited; this is standard practice," the ambassador said. "Now it will depend on Putin and the Kremlin whether he will come, but we will definitely send him an invitation and will wait for him," the diplomat added.

The ambassador also took the opportunity to explain that the venue for the summit has not yet been determined. Still, the meeting may be held in one of South Africa's four largest cities: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, or Pretoria.
