Beazley gross premiums rise 16%

(Sharecast News) - Global insurer Beazley said gross written premiums rose 16% in the year to date driven by rate increases across all its divisions.
The company on Friday said premiums for the nine months to September 30 came in at $2.5bn, compared with £2.19bn a year earlier.

"Our initial estimate of the costs of the third quarter catastrophe events including hurricanes Laura and Sally and the wildfires in California is approximately $80m net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums," Beazley said.

(Alliance News) - Stock prices in London are seen opening lower on Friday, with a more low-key end to a week that has seen the FTSE 100 index post solid gains despite a new virus lockdown in England and election uncertainty in the US.
IG futures indicate the FTSE 100 index is to open 19.6 points lower at 5,886.58. London's blue-chip index closed up 0.4%, or 22.92 points at 5,906.18 on Thursday. So far this week, the index has climbed roughly 6%.

Tate and Lyle
Another set of half-year numbers, this time from Tate and Lyle [LON:TATE] showing a solid performance for the business. Revenue is 4% lower, pre-tax profits are 3% higher and the diluted earnings per share are up 9%. Whilst the company saw out-of-home product sales slide off the back of lockdowns, at-home products rose in demand, providing a degree of balance. However management note that the uncertainty relating to the COVID-19 pandemic remains and as such they will not be issuing guidance for the full year.

Yes Gerry i bought friday, usually i don't hold for more than two days but i have done well with TATE last time so i am holding for tomorrow , fingers crossed lol. i have done my lunch time walk and i am off for another one half four. what a day in the markets. i don't like any of them , they are to old, America should have a young president in my opinion.
