bears have been saying that for many years now ,FOMO drives the markets higher and higher .
this is the longest bull run i have seen in the markets ,looks like nothing will effect it,

LONDON, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Sterling rose on Thursday as
pushed-back expectations for negative interest rates from the
Bank of England and hopes for a quicker economic recovery in
Britain given its lead in vaccinations across Europe buoyed the
currency.

The pound has gained against the dollar and euro, 1% and
1.5% respectively this week after Bank of England Governor
Andrew Bailey threw a dampener on market expectations for
sub-zero rates in Britain.

Market pricing for negative interest rates from the central
bank has been pushed back by nearly a month, with negative rates
now expected in June 2021, compared with May 2021 earlier.

LONDON, Jan 13 (Reuters) - The United Kingdom on Wednesday
reported 1,564 new deaths within 28 days of a positive test from
COVID-19, a record daily toll, with the number of cases also
rising slightly on the day before.

The reported number of deaths far exceeds the 1,325 recorded
on Jan. 8 and comes as Britain battles a new more highly
transmissible variant of the virus.

There were another 47,525 cases, up from 45,533 on Tuesday.

There have now been almost 85,000 deaths in Britain - the
fifth highest figure globally - and 3.2 million have tested
positive for COVID-19.

Although the death figure continues to rise, the number of
reported cases over the last week has been falling from a record
high of 68,053, also recorded on Jan. 8, suggesting lockdown
measures were beginning to take effect.

However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there are about
32,000 COVID patients in hospitals, about 70% more than during
the peak of the first outbreak last April, and he said the risk
of intensive care units being overwhelmed was substantial.

"(Health workers) now really are fighting very, very hard to
contain this pandemic after months and months in which they've
really been working flat out and I think the strain is
colossal," he told lawmakers.

A large-scale trial of a new treatment it is hoped will help stop Covid-19 patients from developing severe illness has begun in the UK.

The first patient received the treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary on Tuesday afternoon.

It involves inhaling a protein called interferon beta which the body produces when it gets a viral infection.

The hope is it will stimulate the immune system, priming cells to be ready to fight off viruses.

Early findings suggested the treatment cut the odds of a Covid-19 patient in hospital developing severe disease - such as requiring ventilation - by almost 80%.

It was developed at Southampton University Hospital and is being produced by the Southampton-based biotech company, Synairgen.

A course of treatment with the new drug could cost around £2,000, which is not that expensive for a hospital treatment.

"To be viable it will have to represent good value for money," Synairgen's chief executive Richard Marsden said.
