Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Painful. Without near term WK revelations, ElizabethHill deep dive results and other SHG will remain a very slow burner. Biggest problem is retail short-termism . . . followed by insti tendency to switch to what we called "junk bonds" in the past. The ticker on US debt $trillions (and seemingly zero reaction) is eye watering.
@ 09:43 - However, a number of obstacles and hoops to be jumped through remain.
Occasional bonus divis could be applied as they have been indicated.
(repeat admission of being biased)
WK development is somewhere down the track. SP weakness remains a mystery. Mark Bristow (? is he the only cheerleader) remains enthusiastic. Institutional/fund manager interest in the company is tepid. Retail investors, generally, have grasshopper attention spans. Au spot price forecasts have almost certainly been walter mitty-like. The list is endless.
It is only now that I learn one arm of the Rukwa fault runs along the lake and tapers off east of the mine. See link below. Mineralisation will therefore extend NE.
https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Map-of-the-Rukwa-rift-showing-the-location-of-the-18-August-1994-Lake-Rukwa-earthquake_fig1_250085403
https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Gold-mining-areas-of-the-Witwatersrand-basin-in-South-Africa-based-on-mine-lease-areas_fig2_297764951
The above illustrates extent of the Witwatersrand ridge. Distance Klerksdorp/Evander is nearly 300 km. Logically there is a possibility that Rukwa/Songwe has much to offer and NLGM is merely a starting point.
Remedy/suggestion: for stability up the divi. It's doable . . ..
@ 09:49 - In all probability it was a hosting issue (inexperienced techie). Manolo was likely to have been on Zoom (frequently unreliable) and Doug was using Skype. I have encountered the problem before and the operator didn't have a clue on how to fix it . . . resulting/leaving >200 of us none the wiser.
Preferably "augur". If augers are being used on the hull we are in big trouble. FPSO stress failures are common and unavoidable.
Turnaround very shortly. Increased Sonat tariffs should enable hitherto uncompleted Gwinville wells to have their taps opened.
A great deal is going on behind the curtain.

Comprehensive and informative. Adding on the dips.

Without attempting microanalytics the above is listed because water cuts accelerate with increases in production. Reinjection wells to basement will have to be added. Great attention is being given to the science and engineering.

Slipway pic at Iquitos amply illustrates our hazard for next 3 - 4 months. In theory it should be no worse than 2022. September 2010 was worst recorded.

For the technically minded and waiting on next horizontal completion. >NB Iberia lead to SE is known to extend >100 km . . . and Osheki-Kametza looks to be nailed on. [Are we going to see Block 8 in the frame ?]
Item
a) Brazilian "temporary longer than normal border barge permitting times"
b) Any progress on Iquitos jetty receiving improvements/upgrades and expansion
c) Barra water levels holding reasonably well for the moment
d) "Petroperu's credit line not being available"
e) re: Hoyos "brings an in depth commercial and ESG knowledge base"
Watch this space. Expectation = gaps will continue on shipments owing to (a), (b) and (d) . . . I also still pursue reversal of extra 25% tax levied on dividend, the next of which falls due in three weeks.

I was down in Dorset recently checking remedial action results on the above (without learning a great deal). The exercise was because of a belief that Manolo will shortly be taking on the challenge of Block 8 and possibly more in Loreto province. If so, it will be a big step: cleaning up Poole harbour/estuary is very different to jungle waterways.
I frequently amble along Jurassic coast with a hand pick, parking next to Perenco's Kimmeridge oilfield (quietly chugging away since 1963). It's a great spot for anyone interested in geology. Stratigraphy is clearly seen along the cliff face.
Without laboriously listing references to the Vivian foreland in both Colombia and Peru the following may be of interest -

I wasn't in UK (1967) when the Torrey Canyon went down after the master took a short cut.

Current road haulage technique and its scale looks doable. See pic.
@ 11:04 - Certainly included in my reckoning.
Having been influenced and part of the AngloAmerican, AngloVaal, DeBeers, etc conglomerate era I have no wish to see the danger of seeing SHG disappearing into the mist. Preferably, although his departure is understandable, I would like to have seen Eric staying on and delegating responsibilities to fresh faces . . . e.g. like the Menells and Hersovs did in 1933.
*Waiting on Ruto et al to make a mining policy statement, incl resettlement plan.
Item
a) I treat the Pucallpa river level at the pier as indicative of what is happening downstream at Bretaña. (The Iquitos measurement is taken at the "barra".) Pucallpa had a welcome 1+ m increment in 24 h
b) undecided on extent/progress of quayside dredging works and purpose of midstream excavation. If ops are getting in the way of loading/shipment some daily zero numbers are understandable
c) I now regard "14,500" guidance for 2023 as accurate notwithstanding "20,000"daily capacity
d) would like to think Manolo will shortly become a leading figure on three Loreto problem blocks . . . in which case PTAL will be the main O&G player in Peru. (José L Contreras' appointment also has a purpose, whatever it is.)
e) the whole region is now expecting, if not demanding, access to the 2.5% fund which was primarily designed for the Bretaña community.
"100s" . . . Perhaps you meant a year ago when it barely stuck @ 112p.
Important to note that NOPSEMA are dictatorial, i.e. control the narrative, when lifting sanction.
(faulty keyboard). . . Matthieu Bos’s career spans over 14 years in investment banking and mining in Europe and Africa, highlighted by an eight-year tenure at Ivanhoe Mines. During his most recent role as Executive Vice-President Africa, Matthieu was a key member of the team that delivered the world-class Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. During this period, he was actively involved in US$3 billion in equity and debt financings from various strategic and institutional investors in addition to working on government relations and strategic corporate development. Prior to joining Ivanhoe, Matthieu was employed by BMO Capital Markets in the Metals and Mining Division in London. In addition to earning a BSc majoring in applied earth sciences, Matthieu holds a MSc majoring in metallurgical engineering from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands.
At present I can not see a standout candidate for the post. Wondering if Michelle Jenkins can be considered as a safe pair of hands. She has been onsite regularly in Tanz (Saza, Singida, Dodoma) and WK (Kakamega). Also has connections with AngloAmerican via Kumba Iron Ore leadership.
I admit to being biased but we need someone who is hands on . . . and has Eric's energy . . . preferably having east Africa in their veins.
On the other hand I note
