The high skilled worker route isn't the problem it's the short term worker route, we need to stop it altogether. I've just collected a batch of Samosas from an Asian delicatessens in Normanton, Derby's ethnic area. What a shit hole. Litter & general household rubbish dumped in bin liners on the streets, fridges, beds, sofas dumped on street corners and parks along with bedding & general filth all over the place. I'm told 40yrs ago Normanton used to be quite different mostly Asian & Irish but the residents had respect for their community.
I'm in no doubt that immigration has benefited the UK in the past but when you look at the filth squalor & abject poverty & tbh the quality of the immigrants walking the streets in places like Normanton your realise that many such immigrants contribute very little at a huge cost to the country & local communities.
There should be no need for a short term worker distinction we could easily pay Immigrants 30K to work in health care for example if we didn't have to support so many low grade immigrants many of whom don't even speak English.
