Radio 2 This morning mentioned that Glastonbury Festival is applying to Mendip district council for a license to hold a days event with a possible 50,000 capacity. Below is the e-mail have sent to my local councilor.
Hi ######
I will talk to you later about this to explain.
I understand that Glastonbury festival organizers are applying for a licence to hold an event with a capacity of 50,000 attendees . My understanding is that this will be discussed by Mendip Council this coming Wednesday. If possible could you put the following question to them either directly or alternately forward on my e-mail to the chair of the meeting.
My question is . Will attendees be required to take a lateral flow Antigen test before and after attending the event to detect possible infected individuals. If they are not required to do this then why should they have this exemption. I am sure most people are now aware that these tests are being encouraged by Hmg and Boris Johnson. The tests can easily be obtained free of charge through chemists and the NHS.
There are currently two other tests apart from Innova which are made by Two U.K companies. Surescrean and Omega Diagnostics. Both CE Marked. To summarize they are widely available and would give some reassurance to local residents that infected individuals who may have traveled from afar will not be spreading covid as much as they could have done so without taking a test.
