RE: Brexit Brilliance15 Nov 2022 08:39
Just wondering what experience this author has on importing fruit and veg and other goods after brexit to make these comments? I import £40m of produce a year and can tell you Brexit has added a small amount of paper work but nothing noteworthy.... it cost about £60 in total on a full lorry of goods worth £20k+ and if you have a decent export and import agent the buyer, seller had a couple of documents to send at the start of the process but the rest is managed by the agents.
so yes a little extra paper work, and yes a low level of cost but no nothing significant.
And in the UK we can grow many fruit and veg not 4 as stated its just the consumer base is used to the status quo for now. + with the rise of vertical farming i could grow water melons year round in the UK if i wanted - the tech is coming and I'm on the front line to deliver it so i don't buy this argument at all....
