In the 20 years that we have been exploring
in this region of Kalimantan, no previous
prospect has generated such consistent,
high grade gold, copper, silver plus
lead and zinc assays over an area of this
size.
Baroi was identified during regional reconnaissance
in 1985 and 1997. However, due
to the extreme inaccessibility of the area,
sustained exploration was not possible.
With the recent construction of logging
roads, this situation has now changed and
during Ramadhan 2002 we were able to
initiate work at the prospect.
The Baroi prospects forms a large 8-
kilometer in diameter circular dome like
mountain, with peaks to 1000 meters
above sea level. While it is still very early
days, we are extremely encouraged by
both the size and the high-grade nature of
the mineralization at Baroi.
Gold, Copper, Silver, Lead and Zinc mineralization
has been identified within an
area covering 6.5 by 4 kilometers. One
sample from the central part of this system
has returned values of 18 grams of gold
per ton of rock, 16.4% or 164 kilograms of
copper per ton of rock and 460 grams of
silver per ton of rock. Rock sample assays
from the surrounding zones of lead and
zinc mineralization, have also returned
impressive values of up to 18% or 180
kilograms of lead per ton of rock, 29 % or
290 kilograms of zinc per ton of rock and
325 grams of silver per ton of rock.
