Visa has accepted its first cryptocurrency to settle transactions on its payment network as leading financial companies test digital assets as a result of growing consumer demand.
The American payments group has launched a pilot scheme around USD Coin, a stablecoin cryptocurrency that is pegged to the US dollar. It is initially working with Crypto.com, a leading online platform, but intends to widen the trial this year.

The step, which Visa said will enable it to better assist financial technology companies, was announced as bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, resumed its recovery toward record territory. Yesterday afternoon it was trading up 7.7 per cent at $58,167.99.
Visa is the world’s largest cards payments business by value and provides one of the biggest international systems through
