People testing negative for coronavirus antibodies may still have some immunity, a study has suggested.
For every person testing positive for antibodies, two were found to have specific T-cells which identify and destroy infected cells.
This was seen even in people who had mild or symptomless cases of Covid-19.
But it's not yet clear whether this just protects that individual, or if it might also stop them from passing on the infection to others.
Researchers at the Karolinksa Institute in Sweden tested 200 people for both antibodies and T-cells.
Some were blood donors while others were tracked down from the group of people first infected in Sweden, mainly returning from earlier affected areas like northern Italy.
This could mean a wider group have some level of immunity to Covid-19 than antibody testing figures, like those published as part of the UK Office for National Statistics Infection Survey, suggest.
It's likely those people did mount an antibody response, but either it had faded or was not detectable by the current tests.
And these people should be protected if they are exposed to the virus for a second time.
Prof Danny Altmann at Imperial College London described the study as "robust, impressive and thorough" and said it added to a growing body of evidence that "antibody testing alone underestimates immunity".

Odx have the design and standard, I think their cd4 format understandings will be some of the best in the business. Cd4 is a very good, hard to achieve, unique test, we go on about the other RTC obviously due to pr however Odx have done very well in POC, far more complicated achievements than some of the others.

Connected to mologic longer term, connected to the Burnett institute in Australia also I see Odx growing, developing further test and selling globally.

If this reaches £1 year from now I’d be quite happy, £2 in three years, yep take that. Whilst the gambling AIM, this share has come along way, de risked massively and part of a portfolio

I don’t think a twitter feed impacted the sp, I think a share placing, insufficient patience, extremely high shareholder expectations and the reality of how long it actual takes to develop and sell tests.

The sp can easily recover on a couple of announcements that’s for sure, an order for a million tests to African nations, phe update, government buying will have that impact,

How much do all the testing stations around the country cost? Serious cash, serious need to develop testing through POC, lateral flow in order to speed up and reduce cost of all testing.

So a development on lateral flow antigen would be huge, I think we forget how far this business has come, whether sufficient or quick enough is still to be answered but overall I glad Colin is a scientist and not a PR guru.

maybe expectations havent been met and reading some of the posts and being disappointed you might have to wait a month is pretty wierd considering as people say this is AIM, gambling exchange and obvioulsy people bought in on the sp increase, are now stuck in negative territory and dont want to sell out.

very possible at some point as the dust settles odx can be bought out by someone as these areas of business increase in size and growth potential becomes more and more obvious.

ive been in sold sometime, sold some, balanced the portfolio and happy to sit back and listen and see what next steps are made. expecting validation of mologic tests, sales updates and as per the presentation from odx i'm looking forward to food intolerance updates more than anythin else as this is worth something big time.

Absolutely right. Even the cost difference in tests is sufficient to move government decisions let alone the ease and speed. Lateral, POC tests that are good enough will replace other more expensive lab based ones. The highest quality POC tests will take over the lead position, why would they at a fraction of the price globally.

Lab based will then be for specific survey work, different ways to sense check results.

Both antigen and antibody, they could post out to everyone in Leicester today and know within 24 hrs. Even if a % get it wrong they do it again or didn’t admit they had it can be taken into account of how it’s managed.

The rights for the RTC lateral flow aren't owned by one business.
