The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
To be fair I have been accused of being a paid person, absolutely ludicrous but people love conspiracies on here.
I wonder if anyone on here is happy to admit they’ve shorted stocks in the past or even currently.. I certainly know of one on here that has done so in the past.
I’m not willing to sign the petition as to be frank I don’t know the ins and outs of shorting enough to have a reasoned opinion and I’m not about to follow the crowd just because it’s damaging a share I’m in. I prefer to fully understand it first. That’s not to say i disagree or agree. Just too busy to read up on it and really understand it at the moment.
They don't like when you ask about director buys. Seen the question pop up and be deleted several times from different people.
I really like this guy. That is all.
I heard it that time. :D
That article was really insightful paddy, we hadn’t heard about that recruitment process or much about it so it was really interesting. I got a better feel for Shaun in that article and I am very confident in him
Cheers Dip, Paddy, Womo. Al reasoned posts.
I’ve just read back to 2018 rns and naturally it’s not comparable but I do feel that it’s massively positive and the point of it being done in 12 months when they had 24 is really positive, they must have a real belief there is more to find and want to as quick as possible.
I like to be reasoned in my thinking and it’s hard to do that with such Uber excitement and such Uber negativity. My geology understanding is weak so it’s hard not to get swept up in others emotions.
Anyway; that’s me done for the day, way too busy at work to be on here.
Ttfn
So to me, and this is gonna sound negative but it’s not, it’s my way of deducing facts from those more knowledgable than me, the results sound mediocre in the sense they aren’t anything special but it does indicate a greater potential with more exploration (which I guess is what stage 2 is)?
There wasn’t much excitement in the tone of shauns remarks but written word is often underplayed.
Could be a while before we get excited by Juri but it’s highly prospected.
That’s my take, happy to be told I’m wrong.
Also, adds weight that even if this isn’t the hit that we hope for the region still has a huge change of having another huge hit somewhere as there is quite clearly gold everywhere
That was a fantastic little read, bit more of an insight into Shaun and his thinking. I enjoyed that. Also gave me a bit of extra confidence.
100% agree StarBright. Knowlege of geology isn't knowledge of markets, finances or anything of the sort. That's why people should work together instead of being in one camp or the other and/or certain people should stick in their lanes instead of spouting nonsense about the markets when they're wrong (such as buy a share a day to keep the TR1 away). I wouldn't dream of commenting on the geology stuff, it's way beyond me but I do enjoy reading what others write and I do attempt* to understand what they're saying.
*attempt means struggle like hell
You're not wrong about the board TomE, I rarely check when at work and the last few days when I have checked in if I were naïve I'd be believing that there was some concrete truth in Shaun Day being a Newcrest mole out to get us and that the board are just preparing for a low offer which they'll encourage us to take. Where in reality that speculation has been born out of absolutely zero, in fact the opposite of the comments Shaun has actually made.
If there were ever one not 184 miles away I’d be interested :)
4!! Contact Steve and ask for a justification :D
Where am I criticising? Dare to dream… I’m here aren’t I?
Joe, you’re not allowed to be a critical thinker. You have to be a ramper or deramper that’s all that’s allowed I’m afraid
Still there just silent which is very difficult for me! Especially when certain things are screenshotted and shared as if I didn’t know. ;)
I see the clique has gone into siege mentality tonight :D
I also think that's quite pertinent Bardz, everyone goes on about the good stuff being priced in but is the bad stuff because technically we've now gone from 40 to 30% which was expected but the market as a whole that just looks at facts and figures may not have necessarily always had it taken into account. Who knows. Markets have their own mind.
Telling people to buy who likely haven't got a sub 2p average is a bit of a p1ss take mate.
What are you prattling on about cavendish. You're spouting nonsense.
I bet you haven't actually read any of the documentation from last night or this morning. You should, it's quite fascinating.
For me I can understand the price a little when I remove emotion and my own sentiment and belief. This is AIM, this is a traders ballpark not an investors ballpark, hence why we're all on the message boards. How many people go on the Amazon and Apple boards daily yet they're sound long term investments.. You just don't do it for an investment yet we do. That says it all about the volatility and excitement of AIM.
Traders rely on stuff like NPV to attach value as they're not looking at it from an investors perspective who can see a prospect two years down the line so let's be honest, the PFS has done nothing for them, the NPV has absolutely petrified some of them but they also know that there is a lot of prospect so it's probably profitable for them to hope the price goes down further to get back in and get a quick ten/twenty percent (this is AIM).
Everything for us now is all about Shaun and what he can do to attract proper fund managers to the pool. It's about time someone TR1'd and gave us some really backing. He's admitted himself today, if he can't do that then we will be taken out.
Curious.
What exit strategy do you have? I know we all like to tell everyone to sit on hands and hold for gold but surely some of you are a bit more sensible and have a theory on when you want to exit.
I always had a price target but now I think for me if there has been no buy out, no new discoveries (very much hoping their is but it's rare so it's best to manage my own expectations) then I would look to exit in 2 years when we start producing. By that stage I should have had a nice ROI and I don't want to be that person left holding the bag down the line when it starts sinking (if it does that is). I'd like to not be emotionally invested and of course my strategy is likely to change a lot of the next two years but I thought I'd share and also ask what yours is? Staying in indefinitely isn't for me.
