Yes dia but it needs to be done with a fair amount of money in order to catch the various MM’s eyes.
They thought they’d make a killing.
Barclays were phoning me that day non stop, I finally answered and got told off.
They said I was manipulating the market, I just replied with how sorry I was, I had no intention of doing that and I that I had simply changed my mind.
I told them it wouldn’t happen again and that was that.
It was brutal. It was probably illegal but the MM’s got shafted and who cares about them, right?
2H’s
You could back in the day play it to your own advantage.
Barclays SB used to let you but in a buy when the SP went up to a certain percentage you wanted to buy in at, break the trend so to speak.
I remember putting in a buy order on RBS for over £200k’ s worth.
The greedy bastard MM’s in the City headed for my price.
Just before it got there, I cancelled the trade and sold instead, the price then retreated back to where it was, so bought them all back. £40k profit :)
That was 2009 and im not with Barcs now, so I don’t know if they still do that
Research what happened to Rockhopper back in May 2010.
A few days after the oil discovery in the falklands.
From over 200p, down to 64p was not pretty in 10mins and within 20mins it was back up to over 200p. It was fast. It was brutal. It was probably illegal but nobody seems to care because only the PI got shafted and who cares about them, right?
Excellent post mdrake!

Here you go chablard, only a couple of weeks old.
“President Hassan was quite specific about some of the areas in which she wished to smooth the investment process and encourage growth, namely helium…….”

Spudding is the process of beginning to drill a well in the oil and gas industry. ... After the surface hole is completed, the main drill bit—which performs the task of drilling to the total depth (TD)-is inserted and this process can also be referred to as "spudding in."

I think this statement, by David Minchin, at the end of today’s RNS is a big clue that indeed the Chinese are taking an interest in this project.
Possibly £50m for 25% ~ 40p ps.
“The last six months has seen the average price of helium imported to China reach $375/Mcf as Chinese demand for helium in manufacturing of semi-conductors and fibre-optic cables grows at 6% CAGR and in MRI demand grows at 8% CAGR. There is a requirement for a new source of primary helium to support high value 'next-gen' technological, medical and industrial applications which Helium One has the capacity to fulfil as we seek to develop our globally significant Rukwa deposit."
..... possibly
I see the Chinese Foreign Minister was visiting Tanzania last week.

The Chinese state run press agency, Xinhua News Agency had already noticed HE1 a couple of years ago.
‘ Some independent analysts say the recently discovered helium gas in Lake Rukwa could be worth 3.5 billion U.S. dollars.’

In July, China opened its first Helium plant, to reduce its reliance on US imports.

Or anybody that has his ear..
Be careful about what you’re saying in the podcasts that you’re doing.
DON’T show too much of your hand and DON’T over promise.
Research Rupert Cole, Peter Landau, Chris Cleverly, ..to name a few and how NOT to be like them.
Once you loose the reins, like those mentioned, your on a slippery slope, no matter how great the prize maybe.
