RE: Sweden28 Nov 2025 16:15
I have been around since the inception of Storuman and I am about 40k under water thanks to it not happening.
New investors may say that you know the risks involved and you need to take it on the chin.
I have approached the company and the earliest that they are expecting news on the appeal is next April.
Something that did catch my eye in a recent post by Pescator1 was a link to an online press release from the Municipality:https://www.storuman.se/kommun/nyheter/lansstyrelsen-tillstyrker-bearbetningskoncession/
After doing some research it appears that this release is about ten years old and dates back to the start of the process.
I was gobsmacked to say the least when I read this article because it paints a totally different picture of the Councils view on the prospect of ever getting an exploitation licence.
As I recall the RNS`s of the time that influenced my decision to invest didn`t make mention of most of the"warnings" that the municipality point to in getting a licence.
Here is a copy of part of the article that should have set the alarm bells ringing:
"The area in question is used by the Storfjällsgruppen within the Ubmeje tjeälddie Sami village. The area is part of the Storfjällsgruppen winterland, which extends from the cultivation border down to Lycksele, and is used from October 1 to April 30 each year.
Ubmeje Tjeälddie has several migration routes of national interest just south of the cultivation boundary. In practice, however, the Sami village can only use the migration route that is now affected by the concession application. Other routes are not usable due to other developments such as wind power, mining operations and hydropower.
– If it is to be possible to obtain a permit in a future environmental assessment, extensive measures will be required from the company to avoid affecting the reindeer husbandry to the extent that is evident from the current documentation, says Magnus Langendoen
– The County Administrative Board's decision is a step on the road towards a fluorite mine in Högland. It is an important message. Now it is important that the company can show in the continued process that it has a solution to the issues that, among others, the County Administrative Board raises in its statement, says Tomas Mörtsell."
Should we not have been made aware of this in an RNS at the time: I have read through the RNS history and can`t find any warnings about the only route available for the reindeer herding being in the proposed concession area!
Nothing about other developments blocking the route such as wind power, mining operations and hydropower.
I also remember in a previous RNS that P.C. stated that TYM would not spend any more money on chasing the Swedish bureaucracy to reverse its descision and he stated that he wasn`t overly bothered as we had Copper coming into play and he would pursue that! Cold comfort to me but not to him as he is still getting paid!
