the following post has been made both on advfn and iii . obviously I cannot vouch for the accuracy of same . however people have , well , let's say , doubted his veracity . John Hope this might assure some people. I emailed Colin yesterday and below is his response. Theres no doubting in my mind everything that is being done is being done. All we can do is wait and hope. Been a holder for almost 5 years and will follow them to the end, no matter which way!! Jeremy I just got back from Colombia last night and can report that the mine has now attained normal production with both the lixivation and gold precipitation circuits now functioning correctly. This took about three weeks of 18 hour days and a couple of 24 hour shifs but job now done. Hence sleepless nights were more caused by long work hours than worrying about the deleiberations of the providers of the loan finance ! I am very optimistic that the financial issue will be resolved - I cannot say more at this time and at this strage I am not panicing, just getti ng on with the job. Hope this helps ? Good Luck - John WOOSTER4 - 15 Jan'09 - 14:04 - 12291 of 12320 Have just spoken to the broker so i assume all i say now is fine to be passed on. Apparently, there was a lightening strike at the mine during December which short circuited several pieces of electrical equipment. The mine was also closed during Xmas week. These two combined resulted in them not being able to meet the December payment which they told to Bluecrest in advance. It therefore came as a complete shock when bluecrest pulled the plug (guess that puts to bed all the theories of seeking finance on better terms which bluecrest got wind of). They are in talks with a number of providers (i understand in the US and Canada) - the broker seemed reasonably optimistic that deals can be struck. Importantly, they are still in discussions with bluecrest (i assume either to be able to extend the deadline should funds not be forthcoming). What is really annoying is that production (other than the downtime) has been going very well - as the broker said "they have a very nice operation". As i understand CA is in South America and we can expect a production update shortly. This is thought was rather strange - what's the point of a production update if they're on the verge of backruptcy. Maybe they're confident of pulling it off. Could be the bargain of all time but personally, i have not got the balls to top up. Hope this hel

We remain considerably less enthusiastic about the gold juniors. With their emphasis on exploration activity, often in politically difficult jurisdictions and a lack or absence of production, they are intrinsically high risk investments at the best of times. The advent of the credit crunch and the flight to perceived safety in capital markets has effectively increased risk exposure for this cash-hungry sector by severely constraining the availability of either project or equity finance. Nevertheless, it has become apparent over the past few months that it is still possible to raise equity finance at least for technically sound gold projects. The key requirement here is well-financed cornerstone investors or joint-venture partnerships with the majors or intermediates. We believe there may be a case for those juniors with advanced development projects or early-stage production operations, where financing is well underpinned by established links with financial institutions, cornerstone investors or the majors/intermediates. Cases in point are Patagonia Gold (PGD-AIM) and Cambridge Mineral Resources (CMR-AIM). Even more than for the majors, an investment in the juniors is best undertaken using a diversified portfolio approach.

A rare positive note was sounded with a 44 per rise to 1.65p for Cambridge Mineral Resources (AIM: CMR) following its announcement that it has successfully commissioned its Quintana gold mine in Colombia. Quintana is a small mine with anticipated annual production of only 15,000 ounces of gold, but with resource grades of almost 25 grammes per tonne it should be highly profitable. This is excellent news for Cambridge as it has been a long struggle to bring the mine into production. However, in recent months we have seen quite a few companies bring mines into production and then run into problems with working capital, so it may be a little early to relax, particularly as Cambridge has stated that it may need to return to the market for additional funds in the fourth quarter of 2008. the above is from today's Minsite News ( review of last week ) . LONDON (ShareCast) - First gold was poured at Cambridge Mineral Resources’ Quintana gold mine yesterday, 10 days after the miner started production at the Colombian site. Quintana is expected to produce about 15,200 ounces of gold and 6,000 ounces of silver each year over a minimum mine life of five years. The plant is now becoming fully operational and has begun commercial production at a nominal 75 tonnes per day (tpd), more than the 50 tonnes initially forecast. Cambridge has a sales contract in place with Colombian gold refiner CIIGSA. Prices are based on the London pm gold price fix on the day of delivery to the refinery. “With cash operating costs estimated to be approximately $131 per oz gold over the life of mine, we expect Quintana to be a low-cost producer demonstrating good profit margins,” said managing director Colin Andrew. The project is estimated to have a net present value (NPV) of $10.8m, based on a 50 tpd operation over five years at a gold price of US$600 an ounce. Just heard CMR presenting at the Mining Show in Medellin showed photos of ".....development heading on 3 Level assaying 85 g/t gold...) Sounds like they must already be into the high grade ore.
