The silica impregnation process ( vac mist) was unstable. The surface finish defect could be found here but if not, it revealed it's self further along the process .during machining.

Due to the nature of thd process / product a rework generally was not possible

The GM support guys relentlessly focused on Vac mist and achieved some improvements 50% scrap to 15 % and achieving delivery . When they were removed by GM things deteriorated again

GM also rejected many rotors due to surface finish ,( albeit in specification) which manifested its self as excessive noise under braking( alledgedly) . Imo this was a ruse to allow Brembo to develop a product and push out ST . KJ or GL did not or did not want to see this .

Not withstanding all of that . Lots of staff had invested lots of money , as late as May and it is now gone , and life ambitions postponed.

I'd have kept the GM guys at ST cost to help and support ST , contractual issues put paid to this . Short sighted imo

If this is true. Surely KJ and GL have to step down . To allow them to manage this funding would be a disaster. ST must focus on OPEX not CAPEX and stabilise the process and supply the customer ( who ever that may be )

Time has expired for experiments . It business time .

Also Time to reconnect with the lean guys who increased yield and throughput with zero capex

I have to disagree. There were multiple poor decisions. Financial , process and people all affected by them . From mpv the leadership lacked strategic direction , poor tactical planning , and weak support for operational implementation . Stabilisation , and unlocking the capacity in the existing kit was the foundation .

After all what ever hi tech sausage machine you buy , it's no good if you can't feed it.

Yes all those employees ,that up until about May 2025 had share options and did invest .

Things seemed to be on the production up until about Sep 2025 imo . For me the NED role of an ex GM senior manager was quite interesting

1300 is a very challenging target as an otif . Even at 75% yield .

It also depends where in the process the Tesla parts are, and its unlikely they can convert from an other OEM rotor to Tesla to support the volume .

I d say min 6 weeks away from seeing 1300 Tesla parts at final inspection and into boxes To achieve that a calm sea , powerful wind and and a steady ,fully equipped ship is required . Bon voyage
