This in-house Public Relations is a joke with its sheer incompetence. The company issues an RNS today but not a PR peep to the Press about it. A real PR man would have summarised it, highlighting its positive points, and put out a Press Release to the national dailies embargoed for release at the same time as the RNS. There are only around six newspapers of consequence: the City Editors of the Financial Times, Daily Mail, Daily Express, Times, Guardian and Independent, plus the Press Association. Four or five paragraphs would do- the same for each, so no great sweat - but as I say, not a peep. Ridiculous. I'm sure Mr Pullen will have something to say about this PR farce when he gets cracking from Monday and puts an end to this rot. And as we're the people who pour money into IQE when it's needed I'm sure he'll be a regular reader of the shareholders' discussion board!
To Diplomat65: Do forgive me but I'm ashamed to admit I don't know how to cut and paste! Ironically, someone is calling on me tomorrow to put me right. I hope there is an easy way for you to improvise with my piece today; so pleased you agreed with it, that Sarah Bate will ensure Dr Nelson sees all that shareholders have to say. The most outrageous message I've seen on this board is that from Stoater yesterday sayng he has been trying to contact management for 10 years without response I don't think Dr Nelson would be pleased about such "customer" relations!. Again,so sorry about my computer failings!
I was very unhappy with my telephone talk with Chris Meadows at IQE last week and so decided to ring Dr Nelson's office. I spoke to his secretary/personal assistant, Sarah Bate, told her of the communications impasse between shareholders and company which I felt should be brought to Dr Nelson's attention. She was extremely helpful and said if anyone wanted to write to him "all they have to do is write to him via me and I will certainly make sure he gets it". The address is: Sarah Bate@IQEP.com
.
So there it is - an open invitation to the boss himself. Now it's up to us from here!
To Stoater: Disgraceful treatment of you, How disappointed you must have felt. May I suggest you have a final fling at them at 02920839400 and ask switchboard to put you through to Chris Meadows. He's the main culprit here as the PR man who never puts anything out! You may get something more positive than I did. Worth a try - be good to know how you get on.
Further to my last message which I sent rather than risk losing it
As shareholder Bandit1 posted on Friday (Jan 18) there should have been TV cameras, journalists, technical commentators , City editors and the rest, down there along with an interview with the technical genius behind it all, chairman Drew Nelson. What a massive PR perk for a company dubbed to be the heart of Britain's Silicon Valley of the future.
IQE - get a professional Public Relations Officer as a top priority.
I had an astonishing phone talk with Chris Meadows on Friday (Jan 18). He's one of the three-man management team on site at IQE Cardiff (0292 0839400) who told me one of his several jobs outside his main role in marketing was public relations. I asked whether management ever read the shareholders' discussion board? He replied, and I quote: "We look at it from time to time but we have many employees who are shareholders and they will no doubt see it."
What a thing to say - and a so-called PR man at that - in terms of management-shareholder communication! So he's saying, in effect, that they miss most of shareholder comments, that the notice board is merely an over-the-garden-wall chat source for a shower of insignificant Old Mother Rileys. No wonder we only get silence when they don't bother to read our views , concerns, suggestions. With such a Cavalier attitude they don't seem to realise that management may need shareholders' votes or perhaps even more cash in the future.Could fellow shareholders please follow-up on this issue. There is an obvious urgency to recruit a professional Public Relations Officer.
Bandit1: I write as a long-standing journalist and PR man. Of course you are absolutely right about the vital need for PR publicity . You poor sod if you've been battling away at them for over a year. Must talk t o you tomorrow once I've got over the shock of meeting up with some professional common sense. Sounds a bit snooty, I know, but that's how it is.
Let me continue where I left off my previous post. I had to get it off in case I pressed the wrong key and lost it as usual.
Putting aside Gotrader's "what silence" question I must raise my hat to T E Williams's clear-cut analysis of the situation, his call for news to arrest the share price slump and the possible need for a change in management at the top. Quite rightly he pays tribute to Dr Nelson's sterling work in making IQE the leading company in its field, at the same time endorsing another shareholder suggestion that IQE needs a Chief Executive Officer with proven experience in driving a company forward. "Drew is clearly outstanding but for IQE would be best suited as the head of all research and technical applications", said the writer.
Thank you for all that common-sense analysis, Mr Williams. Please keep your comments coming.
Amazing, Mr Gotrader that you should ask:"What silence?" We bone fide investors are not seeking a trading update - we know all about the Apple news; what we are seeking is a management reassurance that the company is thriving healthily and progressing according to plan. Nothing more than that. Shareholders who have invested a great deal of money in IQE have seen the share price collapse from 180p to 58p today in 14 months during which time we've had nothing from management but, you've guessed it Mr Gotrader, SILENCE. This share price debacle is nothing less than a crisis for genuine shareholders and continued silence is totally unacceptable.
Thanks for your constructive comments, dewilliams - fighting talk at last instead of the waffle we often get .I 'm wondering if IQE have access to the London South East Share Chat board we use? There seems to be two. The man we have to keep getting on to at IQE Cardiff is Chris Meadows (0292-0839400). He's described to me there over the phone as in marketing but also looks after their public relations (what public relations?!). He's the one who put out the news that IQE was holding a "roadshow". I'm still trying to fathom out what a "roadshow " is!
Bravo Mr T L Williams for raising the word "impropriety" and, of course, you are quite right , no-one can suggest impropriety without proof but it underlines my long-held view that something very fishy smells in this case. Whoever heard of a company - with all its high-profile, highly-paid (shareholders') money to allow this situation: 180p to 60p in 14 months without the slightest whisper to arrest such a collapse? As I said, fishy indeed and something must be done.
Many thanks - you were absolutely right to point out my carelessness over the dates last night. It should obviously have read Jan 13 instead of Jan 23. No doubt our fellow dissident shareholders will make the correction when they write to chairman Greg Nelson. I haven't yet but will do so tomorrow, having spoken to his secretary today for his address.I note you make no mention of Mick-b's idea, only to my "bull",whatever that means I thought it was brilliant towards getting an end to the constant company silence and introduce regular communication between the company and we, its shareholders. Got any better idea on how to achieve this vital end?
Me again - sorry. Am about to send off my dissident shareholder letter to Drew Nelson as per the text shown on the board last night (Jan 13 at 1955 under heading Share Price Suicide). The address is: Sarah Bate @ IQEP.com, his personal assistant, who will make sure he gets it
Sorry folks regarding my post of last night (Sunday Jan 13). The date I mentioned was Jan 23 but should have read Sunday Jan 13. I'm rather a dud with the computer, keep pressing the wrong key. You may have noticed I sent the same message twice to fellow shareholder,Dibeg also yesterday, hope he doesn't think I'm getting at him. Maybe I should take more water with the amber stuff, too! Again, my apologies.
to Mick-b: Bravo and many thanks for a brilliantly-sensible idea and call for action. But we mustn't let it languish into oblivion. All dissident shareholders, like myself, should act on it now. I suggest every one of us e-mail the following message to IQE headquarters at Cardiff in exactly the same words to serve as a petition:
"To Dr Drew Nelson, IQE Chief Executive Officer:
As an IQE shareholder I wish to endorse the message put on the IQE discussion board on Sunday, January 23 at 1209 hrs. It said: IQE needs a CEO who has had proven previous experience in driving a company forward. Boohoo have seen the light and are replacing their owner/founder CEO with the CEO from Primark. Drew is clearly outstanding but for IQE would be best suited as the head of all research and technical applications.
