Been thinking, and have just emailed the company, missing the target by a couple hundred metres, indeed upto 500m from memory, falls into the realms of possibilities of error between different spheroids being used, for example if the drill rig was positioned using wgs84 (gps) and the seismic data shot and interpreted in ED50, (usual for North Sea) or visa versa, you would expect an error between positioning spheriods in the realm of the amount the payzone was missed. It would be a basic error for a hydrographer to make, nevertheless, I’ve heard of it happening several times.
