Smart, could not agree more. A licensing agreement will independently corroborate the technical and process achievements presented by Ilika. Confirmed energy density above 300 Wh/kg will provide your rocket with more than enough fuel. A bit of decent PR and marketing would also help to shorten the fusewire.

Another huge USP of SSB over LIB batteries is their ability to be easily recycled once there is volume in the market. The lack of a liquid electrolyte and polymer separators allows the battery material to be ground down and easily separated and re-used. The current process is exceptionally complex and costly.

The more you research the SSB market the more you realise just how far Ilika is along the development timeline and how close they are to something really big!

To give it some context, a Dyson hoover runs on a 3.5-6Ah battery, a large Drone uses 6-15 Ah, an electric motorbike runs on 30 Ah, a car uses multiple pouches which is where the 50 Ah comes in. There is obviously a lot more to the specification other than Ah but this gives a good indication of the potential end markets.

Very limited detail, was hoping for more. How many customers? Any new customers joined the party? Energy density achieved? We do now know that the yield is up at a very respectable 93%, which will no doubt move to 95% quickly with their SPC data highlighting potential improvements. But well done Ilika for hitting a major milestone and target on time! I’m just hoping you are keeping your PR flat as you are sitting on too much exciting news!!

Article in the Telegraph yesterday’ The west can still win the war with China’. Ilika quoted as ‘ The UKs SSB champion’. Ilika are at the front of the pack. Solid Power/BMW are working on a sulfide based solid electrolyte aiming to double energy density to 500 Wh/kg which will consign range angst to the memory bin. I look forward to hearing Ilikas battery performance.

The more I research, the more confident I become in Ilika. QS and Solid Power both Behomeths with stratospheric Market Caps seem behind the curve. What is missing from Ilika is detail on Wh/kg and Wh/l energy density which both the above seem happy to advertise. I just can’t believe with all we know and the huge advancements towards commercialisation that this little company has not gone boom! Ilika seem to be keeping things low key and keeping their powder dry. Anyone got a light?:)

Very good video on YouTube by Matt Ferrell ‘How close are we to SSB’s’. Some very interesting points and a good overview of some of the main players . Totally agree, their PR, Marketing and Presentation is very amateur compared to the competition but their NPI process is exceptionally professional and market leading. Let’s hope we see a step change here as things progress.

No, there are too many variables; size, weight, performance of car etc. but the SSB is 100 kg lighter than the average LIB so greater efficiency or more battery pouches can be used. They have stated that battery performance has increased during scale up activities. Just hope they can stick to their timelines, as per share price decline, trust has worn thin over the years from investors.

Yes get that. I have been invested here through the highs and lows, investing regularly for 7 years and have recently got back in the black. Have been following the chats which have been enormously helpful and I feel much more confident in their future direction now but they do need to up their game with their presentations and demos. QS really nailed it with Ducati, even if their market cap is ridiculous (or is it?), Ilika are in with the big boys now. Exciting times.

I see QS has teamed up with Ducati to test their SSB. Amazing professional presentation unlike Ilikas remote control car. Maybe Ilika can learn something here with regards to presentation.
