The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Yesterday Segro announced they had raised around £900m for 'new and existing development projects and to take advantage of potential acquisition opportunities'. Down the line SHED and CREI may have competition when negotiating for the 'good bits' of API. DYOR
An interesting end to a damp squib of a takeover battle. The value offered by CREI and suggested by SHED just wasn't up to snuff.
With a portfolio including 54% industrial and 16% retail (retail warehouses in the main), and in an environment of lowering interest rates, management should easily be able to improve on the current 32% discount to NAV through a wind down. If this dips tomorrow morning I for one will be loading up. DYOR
I had wondered why the share price had been rising steadily over the past few weeks and now we know. As predicted on 08/11/23, the Picton debacle put the 'for sale' sign up over UKCM. Interesting merger. It gives BBOX meaningful bulk in terms of index funds needing to buy it. It allows an amount of diversification hence safety when Amazon can change the whole space at a whim. Also in an environment of falling inflation / interest rates, BBOX should be able to sell the bits it doesn't want at a profit over the next couple of years. Maybe they've already been speaking to Picton???
In summary, a good deal for BBOX. I wish UKCM could've got a bit more, but that's life.
Is the 'possible merger' with Picton just a way of telling the market that we're available for the right price to any interested buyer because the 'merger' sounds to me more like a no premium takeover which would not be best value for shareholders imho ? Looking forward to seeing more meat on the bones.
So the share price is back to where it was before the underwhelming 'Conclusion of the Strategic Review' was published yesterday. Our trust has become a morass of private equity investments with a nav totally out of touch with reality. Sadly the board who have allowed this to happen seem oblivious to the fact that abrdn are gaslighting them. It's time to vote down the board since they have lost the trust of the shareholders and vote against the continuation of the trust.
With Abrdn in the process of selling its Private Equity business to Patria Investments and looking like transferrring its staff too, does that mean that our trust will lose its manager Nalaka De Silva? Looks like we need another update Davina.
Looking at this HDIV and HHI merger, (the outcome of a strategic review), a case can be made for Abrdn Diversified Income and Growth (ADIG) to be merged with any of the 4 Abrdn Income /Income+Growth funds at the end of its strategic review. As ever, DYOR and GLA
Over a third of outstanding treasury shares cancelled. Could this be a tidying up exercise before a strategic review announcement next week ? DYOR GLA
What about a merger with HDIV, Davina ??? Seems a logical fit to me.
GEM went xd today offering around 18%

I haven't read all of the chat this morning but IMO this deal makes no sense. They give us OUR money that WE own and 17.5% of the future profits instead of 100%. Baaa! I find it incredible that this is the best of 5 deals which they received. Either something underhand is going on or a second announcement is due in the next couple of weeks whereby Prax are buying another producer/explorer and rolling it into Hurricane giving us more potential upside. As ever, DYOR.
Good move Sense.
Spot on Sense. I feel a Friday top up coming on. DYOR everyone.
Sense,
He was both.
Probably someone has mentioned this already but Daniel Jankes who was with Hurricane for 11 years was appointed general counsel for Viaro in April22. At the time Viaro chief executive Franceso Mazzagatti said Mr Jankes’s longstanding experience of helping to establish a production business operating on the UK Continental Shelf would be hugely helpful to the company.
JGF,
Agreed. Solid income and low gearing. Also, directors purchases a few days ago at a higher price than this even taking into account today's xd.
Yep, just had a top up too.
Steady performance and decent dividend. However, no NAV update. Also not sure about Alex Short since she was at the helm of AEWL (now AIRE) when it slipped badly.
JF,
Yep you're probably right. Just had my rose tinted specs on when I read their response :-)
