Yes this was discussed in great dept last year here when it came out, and YES those effected were offered the freehold at a reasonable price but some did not take that offer up. If I recall it was around £2-3 K

In most cases reported the solicitors did advise but some decided not to go down the freehold road anyway and not taking the consequences seriously in respect to the leasehold details and most probably said to themselves lets worry about that later and keep the cash for other things.

It was found that all buyers involved were advised on the vidio's shown regards this problem.

It was the general view that it was the purchasers responsibility to Know what they were buying and the differences between Freehold and leasehold and if they had any questions regarding the leasehold they should have made it their priority to ask their solicitor before signing any contracts. It is no good to anyone complaining after the deal is done and they have only themselves to blame.

How foolish it is for anyone spending their hard earned cash on the biggest decision in their life on their first Home NOT to understand the financial details. ??????

The PSN report is all over the BBC news and that has had a bad effect to all House builders including us :-(

I doubt that their report tomorrow will have such a positive result now with this blot on their card, talk about bad timing.

That's all we need as we were on a reasonable road North and this has not helped us at all. Maybe get back a bit next week after this blow's over.

Just read your similar post on PSN. Question to you with the greatest respect, please explain your statement "just who will the Gov allow to build houses" or your statement over on PSN "who will the Gov ask to build it's houses if it excludes ALL the house builders?

How on Earth can the Gov exclude "ALL the house builders" and correct me if I am wrong, the Gov does NOT "allow" anyone to build houses, there are procedures to follow from land purchase, planning, cost, quotation, having the Plant and expertise in house construction etc, etc. Not "anyone " are geared up to build on the scale that the professional House builders do now.

So with respect I fail to understand your point on either board, can you please elaborate ?

With March approaching very quickly I would have thought we would have seen something in respects to the future drilling plan / works programme, maybe by Friday ??????? Any thoughts welcome !!!

Bamps hey, yes he was a boy as far as I am concerned. I did an apprenticeship from 16 to 21 then compared with the tradesmen, had much to learn on a hard site. I was lucky, as I was asked to enter the HQ as a junior engineer, then another 5 years in college doing an ONC then on to the HNC in M&E engineering to management status, at least I had the site training !!!!!!!! ( and that was fun to say the least, totally recommended, good stuff as I can now rewire a Kettle, LOL )

Thank god, I was staff with TW and PAYE. A mate of mine that worked for himself for years that has now been in direct employment has also had a letter about "Back TAX" even though he had a recommended accountant. He is dealing with it now but has told me only last week he and his accountant are very worried indeed as he could owe thousands re the court ruling in 2015 that the schemes were illegal, as there were unknowns that his accountant were aware off.?

As far as I have been told is that this is a major assault on outstanding amounts of money outstanding from Freelance works that have not been COLLECTED and they are out now catching up on same,

We all know that HMRC are back logged a good few years with work but they are now slowly catching up so beware the information and accounts are on log and no matter how much time passes they will show up on your doorstep, FACT. ( The good old saying sweep it under the carpet, I assure you does not work lol )

I forgot to say with the amount of major cost due to continued defects before and after sales it may a good Idea for TW to employ mobile experts to do that job. So that say an area may have say 4 of these trained staff with that responsibility to ensure that each and every house is inspected and snagged each month during construction until its given and hold's a first class cert from those experts prior to going to market !!!!!!!!! Just a thought. If faults are found we could take tose experts to task and their documentation in regards to worthiness.

Yes I know what you mean and I am sure you are correct. Yes I agree unless the management insist that experienced staff watching what the tradesmen ( like the old days with a COW etc ) are up to, issues like in that report will continue to make headlines.

Most of my work was on major projects and not housing and I can understand that the Housing sector may not be up to the same amount of scrutiny or have as many site based experienced staff watching what the tradesmen are up to
or even the same amount of H&S standards as that of say Air & Rail projects. This is maybe why some of the works are let down simply because of savings / cost and the lack of those experienced site supervision, but I doubt this will change.

As you say let those in the front line now look after their problems as we can not !!

Good luck in the garden / fog, its lovely and Sunny here South, but yesterday I could not see 1m in front of me due to very thick Fog, so we all stayed in the pub LOL .

I am afraid I must respectively disagree with your "Pressures of H&S on site management is immense and prevents experienced staff from walking the site checking work regularly"
I worked on major projects with TW and all staff are trained very rigorously in site health and safety matters and most are sent on annual H&S courses. Most of the engineers, site staff including the supervisors and managers go on regular site safety inspection tours and complete H&S check sheets every day during their works inspections and standards !!!!! I had that task as a project manager and had to inspect works as they were installed as part of my responsibilities. Now that's a fact.
